Autumn is on the way… do you feel it too? (Or maybe spring for friends in the Southern Hemisphere!) After a warm dry summer here on the south coast of England, there’s a definite nip in the air and I’m feeling the autumn vibes! It’s a season I really love once we’re in the swing of it but it does take a little adjusting to and I’m always a little sad to say goodbye to summer…
To help ease the transition to getting back to my day job, the schools returning, and family life changing once more, it was lovely to receive the latest issue of Simply Crochet magazine and see my ‘Pebble Pebble’ cushion design on the front cover!

Subscribers (which includes me) have received their copies late this month due to some distribution problems and a mechanical error at the mailing house, but it was worth the wait! 🙂 There are some fabulous designs in this issue (Issue 101) and as always I just love how the team have styled my design… they never disappoint and my cushion looks just perfect there… 🙂

For those of you that crocheted my Changing Tides Blanket you’ll recognise those double treble clusters! 🙂 That pebble lace stitch pattern to give these bobbles which are oozing squishy texture. They’re time consuming, yes, but oh so worth it!

And here’s the cushion next to my Beachcombing Blanket… 🙂

The yarn I used is Lily ‘Sugar n Cream’, an Aran weight 100% cotton yarn which I’ve used for cushions in the past. It’s lovely to work with and gives such a great stitch definition and texture. The beautifully muted colours of ‘Jute’ and ‘Overcast’ give such a calming and sophisticated feel… they do remind me of pebbles and sand…

I really can’t wait to get this cushion sample back… 🙂

For me, Autumn is a time for new inspirations and renewed creativity… I look to cosy crochet projects and of course it’s the season for wearing shawls! So I have a new design on my hooks…
Sarah who has an Etsy shop ‘BishieBarnabees’ sent me two gorgeous skeins of her hand dyed yarn in the most perfect autumn colours…

And here’s the shawl in progress… I’m loving it so far and the autumn colours are calling to me for sure… 💚🧡🍂🍁🍂

Happy crocheting everyone… 😊😊
Ooh love it will yiu be releasing the shawl pattern ?
Thank you Jane… and yes, definitely one I’ll be writing up! 🥰🧶❤️
Happy Autumn Eleonora. What a fab blog post. Your cushion design is gorgeous and I love the colours you’ve chosen. And the beautiful yarn is a wonderful combo for the shawl. Must get back to shawls now that I’ve finished my beachcomber blanket. Thanks for the inspiration.
You’re very welcome Lindsay! xxx
The cushion looks so fab and, yep, squishy! 😁 Those shawl colours you’re working on are so beautiful too, can’t wait to see finished article 😍
Thank you so much Jan… 😊❤️
Where can I find the cushion pattern please x
It’s in issue 101 of Simply Crochet magazine… you can buy the patterns digitally too… https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/sources/simply-crochet-issue-101/patterns
Like you I love autumn though if it’s just wet and windy then that’s no good! Somehow it’s ok to pop PJs on and snuggle up on sofa again – it feels odd if you do this when it’s bright outside. I stop my husband shutting the blinds until it’s dark (the other day he said it will be in 20 mins) to enjoy every last second of the beautiful autumn sky as the sun disappears behind the mountain here in South Wales. Even if it’s not a classically beautiful sunset I love seeing how the light fades and the oh so beautiful deep blues in the sky. A different landscape to your beach one. I guess I should try to capture the colours in a blanket or shawl one day. Hmm that’s another project in waiting then … 😄
Sounds just perfect Helen… a mountain sunset! 😊❤️
Happy autumn! I’m glad that we’re heading into spring over here, I’m loving the slightly warmer weather! The cushion looks amazing, the texture is perfect! 😍 and I’m loving those colours you’re using for your shawl, they are so so pretty 🥰
Thank you! Yes, those transitions between the seasons are special… enjoy the warmer days!! 😊❤️
Your cushion isn’t in my sort of colours but it certainly conjures up visions of pebbles on the beach. You are good at these beech designs aren’t you!
Thank you so much! 😊❤️
What a beautiful cushion! And so well styled. Can we see a photo of Salty with it?
Thank you! She’ll have to make an appearance soon! ❤️🐾
Would love shawl pattern! It is beautiful!
Thank you! It will be coming… 😊❤️
Love the Cushion Eleanora and adore the colours of the shawl you are so clever, Look forward to seeing the pattern when you do it.
Thank you so much Sue! 😊❤️
Love both of them are you going to put the patterns in your blog
Thank you so much Janice! The shawl yes… but the cushion is available through the magazine only… ❤️😊
Hi Eleonora. I love your crochet cushion. I had already seen it in my September issue of ‘Simply Crochet’ magazine. Will definitely have to make that some time. I love the neutral colours. My late nan used to crochet cushions many years ago, sometimes round sometimes square and she always made a good job of them. I just love your designs. Can’t wait for the finished shawl pattern. Marilyn
Thank you so much Marilyn! The shawl is just finished so hopefully ready to release soon! 😊💙💙
