Welcome to Day 8 of my Winter Walk Scarf… and today we’re walking ‘amongst the dunes’! 😄
Today is also 1st December which means the count down to Christmas really begins! I can’t quite believe it’s December… 💚
For me, walking amongst dunes reminds me more of summer walks… this is only because we don’t have sand dunes on our local beaches so when I do find myself walking amongst sand dunes it usually means I’m on a summer holiday somewhere! Today is perfect for those of you in the Southern Hemisphere as you approach summer…
Although I did find one very wintry sand dune scene when scrolling through my photos… this was taken 5 years ago in December 2016 when we were in The Netherlands for Christmas… and we really were enjoying a winter walk ‘amongst the dunes’! I remember it being very cold…❄️

Here you’ll see we walked amongst the dunes back in September when we visited Northern Ireland for the Spinning Yarns Festival. As we emerged out of the dunes, the beach that greeted us was stunning, and we even saw dolphins swimming out at sea… a very special day!

And here, definitely a more summery walk back in August, we visited Braunton Burrows which is a sand dune system on the North Devon coast…

Salty went wild… and chased through those dunes like crazy! She tired herself out, found some shade amongst the dunes and promptly dug herself a hole to lie in the cooling sand! 😁🐾

So walking amongst the dunes can be really fun and oh so beautiful… and our crochet stitches today capture the shape of the sand dunes with rises and falls in the stitches just like the mounds of the sand dunes. And then the tall double treble (US treble) stitches are just like the gorgeous beach grass…

And here’s our round-up from progress photos shared yesterday… some of you are only just starting out which is wonderful! And just look at that gorgeous beach sunset photo… 😍
The first grid is from photos shared over on Instagram and the second grid is from photos shared in the Facebook Group

The yarn you are using does give a design that is very evocative of dunes. Wonderful!
