Winter Walk Scarf Day 4 – Peeking into Rock Pools…

Welcome to Day 4 of my ‘Winter Walk Scarf’ crochet-along. There are so many of you lovely people crocheting this scarf and it means so much to me that you’re enjoying this winter walk as much as I am. Our crochet is a welcome distraction from some of the worries and hardships we hear on the news. And our scarves will certainly bring smiles to people’s faces once finished. Thank you for all the lovely comments! ❤️

So now on our winter walk we’ve arrived at the beach, and today we will be ‘peeking into rock pools’! 😄

Kirstyn from Miss Moffat Yarns provided me with all the winter walk inspiration through her yarns… 💙

But first it’s time for the round-up from yesterday’s photos! The first grid is from photos shared over on Instagram and the second grid is from photos shared in the Facebook Group It’s just wonderful to see all the progress photos…

For today’s stitches we return to some Filet Crochet. This time it’s a pattern created with those blocks and spaces, rather than a single shape or design like the heart we began with on Day 1.

The holes we create in the Filet Crochet pattern today are like peeking through into little rock pools!

My local beach has lots of rock pools at low tide. This photo was taken in 2020 when I peeked into a rock pool on our local beach and was amazed by the stunning sea anemone which I saw…

Here’s a video from that day which I shared during my Beachcombing Blanket crochet-along…

It was a wonderful moment peeking into that rock pool…😍

And it inspired a fun bit of freeform crochet for me at the time… 🙂

Yesterday evening we enjoyed another spectacular sunset! This will be the last one for a while because as I write this, the weather forecast for tomorrow and the weekend ahead is not good. Storm ‘Arwen’ is sweeping across the country from the north. Stay safe to those who are most affected – here on the south east coast we don’t have the severe weather warnings in place like in other parts but it’s looking like a crochet indoors kind of weekend!

Yesterday’s epic sunset skies!

For those of you who have purchased the printer friendly pattern on Ravelry it has now been updated to include Day 4: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/winter-walk-scarf

And thank you once again to independent yarn dyer Kirstyn from ‘Miss Moffatt Yarns’ who provided all the inspiration I needed for this scarf through her beautiful yarns… 😍

And my gorgeous wooden hook which was made for me by Noel from Henryettas Hooks also deserves a mention… it was wonderful to use it for this project! 😍

So here goes… Happy Crocheting today! 💙💙

  1. Another lovely day , thank you for including my scarf in your daily round up, everyone’s else’s look so neat and tidy , mine is , it’s just I can’t take a good photo, that’s my excuse, thank you again for all your work and sharing this with us

  2. I have to admit, I am in awe over that wooden crochet hook that your friend carved for you. Was that a piece of driftwood he found on the beach, if so, how unique and beautiful. Not to mention what a keepsake between friends and one heck of a way to reuse & recycle. Quodoes!
