Winter Walk Scarf Day 10 – Beach Treasures…

Welcome to Day 10 of my Winter Walk Scarf! Today is a lovely part of our walk as we come across various ‘beach treasures’! 😍🌊

Searching for some of these treasures as I walk along the beach is something I often find myself doing… I just can’t help myself! πŸ˜„ And what fabulous beach treasures I’ve found over the years…

Sea glass… these are spectacular pieces of sea glass I found on the beach at Seaham in County Durham in the North East of England back in 2017. It was just like a treasure hunt and how happy I was when I spotted these beauties. We do get sea glass on our local beaches, but not quite like these…

Although I did find this little red piece on our local beach… ❀️

Fossils… when I found this perfect little fossil on our local beach, it really did feel like I’d found a beach treasure… to think this was a sea creature swimming in the seas near where I live thousands of years ago is just incredible. This beach treasure is now on my kitchen window sill!

Shells… and oh the variety of shells we find are simply stunning… sea shells are definitely ‘beach treasures’!

I do so love searching for beach treasures amongst the pebbles….

So the open, lacy stitch pattern that we’re crocheting today is really pretty, with the treble (US dc) clusters resembling the beach treasure finds… What might you have found on your walk?!

And how I loved looking through all your progress photos yesterday as little footprints began to appear! Those little feet really made me smile! And there were some new starters to the scarf as well. 😍

The first grid is from photos shared over on Instagram and the second grid is from photos shared in the Facebook Group

For those of you who have purchased the printer friendly pattern on Ravelry it has now been updated to include Day 10:  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/winter-walk-scarf

And thanks as always to Kirstyn from β€˜Miss Moffatt Yarns’ who provided all the inspiration I needed for this scarf through her beautiful yarns… 😍

And thanks also to Noel from Henryettas Hooks for creating the beautiful hook that I crocheted all these thousands of stitches with… https://www.facebook.com/groups/henryettashooks/

Happy Crocheting! πŸ˜„πŸ’™

  1. HI again, Just wanted to say a huge, ginormous thank you and to say that the time and effort you put into everything you do and share online. The videos are amazing, the diaries and the flawless instructions and explanations are the very best. The time it must take to show us lovely videos and the exploits of the video star Salty are spectacular. If I ever feel the need to cheer myself up I wrap myself in my favourite blanket of yours and watch past videos of the lovely sea shots. The sounds and sights are the best for making us feel happy. So you are not just crochet inspiration, but happiness on a hook for lots of us. I so love the time you take to share your project ideas and the inspiration for your colour and stitch choices. Please keep on making/taking videos, pics and inspiration. It is lovely to not only see our projects come to life, but to know what was your inspiration for colour choices and patterns, you get it so right. I am sure you have raised the spirits of all your followers during the painful months we have enjoyed. So a very large THANK YOU for being there and showing us a glimpse into your life, and Salty’s too!
