Introducing ‘Say it with Flowers’! 🌸

I’m super excited to introduce another new blanket design – this is ‘Say it with Flowers’!

Let’s say it with flowers…

This is the sixth annual crochet-along (CAL) blanket which I’ve designed for yarn company King Cole and the 6-part CAL will begin on Friday 19th June!

Scroll down for lots more photos, inspiration and then all the essential information you’ll need to crochet-along!

Flowers are a wonderful thing and various blooms have featured in my crochet designs over the years… so this theme was one that I adored immersing myself in!

I had so much fun designing this blanket and there’s not a single appliqué in sight, I promise! 😃

Every flower is incorporated into the crochet as we go which has been a both a design challenge and joy… I always love experimenting with crochet stitches and seeing how they can be incorporated as we crochet to create different shapes and textures.

And the result is a wonderfully textured blanket featuring an exciting variety of realistic flowers, all crocheted in a range of beautiful bright colours…I absolutely LOVE it! 🌷🌹🌸🌼

Featuring roses, daffodils, sunflowers, daises, forget-me-nots, tulips, Gerbera and hibiscus flowers, it’s a wonderfully colourful and cheerful mix of blooms, like a bouquet of flowers through crochet! 💐

Who doesn’t love flowers… and here are some photos I’ve taken over the years of just some of the flowers that have inspired me for this blanket…

The blanket is constructed in squares, with a large central flower square design plus 40 smaller floral inspired squares… it really is a floral feast for the eyes…

I’ve designed this blanket with the option of either King Cole Cottonsoft DK or King Cole Big Value DK yarn.

The Cottonsoft DK is shown on the right below and the Big Value DK is on the left…

Here’s the shopping list of yarn:

The pattern for the CAL will be free and released over 6 weeks on the King Cole website in both UK and US terms. There will be video tutorials on the King Cole YouTube channel.

I’ll be putting links here on my website too so make sure you subscribe to my website and you’ll easily know how to find everything you need to crochet this blanket.

A crochet-along is amazing for bringing people together from all over the world, all crocheting the same stitches at around the same time. Crochet-alongs are always such a wonderful way to build community spirit. 💙

And to enjoy all the fun, see people’s progress, share photos, get ideas and ask any questions for help and support please do join the Facebook Groups:

And here are important dates you need to know…

💐Friday 5th June – I’ll be sharing an introduction video discussing the inspiration behind this CAL and what each part entails. This will be published on the King Cole and Coastal Crochet YouTube channels.

💐Friday 19th June – Week One of the CAL pattern will launch. The link to the first part of the pattern will be in the King Cole Facebook Group and I’ll be putting links here on my website too.

💐Friday 24th July – Final Week Celebration. But don’t worry if you haven’t finished – the pattern will remain available for free long after the CAL is finished so that you can work at a pace that suits you.

And talking of flowers, just look at the coastal Sea Thrift which is now in bloom along the cliff tops… they are looking particularly beautiful this year and I took these photos yesterday…

I’m so excited for this crochet-along and hope that lots of you will join in!

And finally here’s a photo of me with the blankets which my 85 year old mum took! 🙌

And here she is… 🥰

Happy Crocheting Everyone! 😊🌸🌸🌸

  1. Just received the pack for this.
This is my first CAL (I started crocheting 6 months ago) so the results could be interesting.
    Excited but nervous!

  2. Say it with flowers is beautiful Eleonora. Have ordered my kit, treating myself to the cottonsoft which is a yarn I really like the finish of. Looking forward to the crochet along. I already know I won’t keep up, but I will enjoy my journey at my pace and seeing everyone’s progress. Very excited and glad to have this to look forward to. Xx
