Hello everyone…
Here’s a little newsletter from me to you, to share a recent crochet adventure and also to share updates on crochet things to look forward to, including an impromptu crochet-along which will start in 3 WEEKS time… enjoy! 😊

Crochet is as ever my constant… it’s my joy, my focus, my distraction and my creative outlet. And as usual, it’s kept me very busy these last few months! 💙

Autumn has suddenly sprung upon us here on the south east coast. I’m a lover of all seasons and usually enjoy each season for its unique moments.
Autumn in particular can be oh so wonderful with the stunning colours of nature. These photos were all taken in the past week…

I love seeing the Conkers from the Horse Chestnut trees…

And the acorns in the Oak trees…

It’s reminded me of a very early crochet pattern of mine for crocheted conkers which I designed back in 2017…

The free pattern is still here: https://coastalcrochet.com/2017/10/06/crochet-conkers/

But it’s also felt like a harsh transition from summer into autumn for us this year with particularly high winds and plenty of rain dominating our weather this past week and arriving all of a sudden after a nice summer… I wasn’t quite ready for it!

However, it has meant that it’s been a good opportunity to be indoors and maybe enjoy a little extra crochet… 🧶

Earlier this month I attended the Spinning Yarns Festival in Northern Ireland.

This is the fifth year that I’ve been invited to this lovely event which is always so very inspiring.
I held two talks at the festival across the weekend and shared my highlights from the last 10 years of Coastal Crochet!

I could talk about crochet all day but I managed to condense 10 years of Coastal Crochet into 35 minutes! 😅

I’m so very grateful for all the lovely conversations I was able to enjoy and all the people I chatted to at the festival… familiar faces as well as new. 🥰

The displays by the HOOKERY CRAFT GROUP were incredible…

Trees with a seasonal theme and each one adorned with fantastic crochet and knitting to celebrate all the seasons. Every time I looked I noticed something new!

This year it rained… especially on the Sunday. But that didn’t stop us having fantastic days filled with creative conversations and plenty of yarn!

I purchased some Jacobs Sheep Wool from Native Yarns and I’ve crocheted a hat for my nephew who just happens to be called Jacob! 😅

Plans are already underway for Spinning Yarns 2026 and I’m looking forward to it already!

Other than the festival we were able to enjoy spending time in the stunning Mourne Mountains… that was a real treat. Just look at these views!

And we also enjoyed a quick detour into Belfast City to see the umbrellas in the rain! ☔️

Kioni the Koala came on tour with us too which was a lot of fun… 😃

We really did have a wonderful weekend and I always come back filled with so much inspiration!

And now to news of a crochet-along!

This is my Pura Vida blanket which I originally designed for the 2024 Crochet Now Magazine annual crochet-along and it was featured over 13 issues of the magazine.

I’m so happy that the time has now come for me to be able to share this blanket pattern myself and I’m planning to do this as a 6 week crochet-along here on my website, starting on Friday 10th October!
That’s only 3 WEEKS away!

I originally crocheted two versions – one in a 4-ply cotton and the other in a DK acrylic. I’m currently also crocheting a third blanket using Scheepjes Chunky Monkey… it’s going to be huge and I can’t wait to show you when it’s finished! 🦋🦋🦋

But Yarnsmiths also still have yarn packs available over in Wool Warehouse which were created to accompany the original crochet along when it was in the magazine.
I’ll be sharing lots more details very soon but if any of you think you might like to crochet along using a yarn pack then here’s the link to the packs from Wool Warehouse:

Behind the scenes I’m working on new blanket designs and there have been exciting conversations with other companies and creatives.
I’ve also been working on a couple of commissions for Inside Crochet Magazine. One will be in the next issue so watch this space. 😊
Coastal Crochet certainly continues… and for that I’m eternally grateful!
Happy Crocheting Everyone… 💚💚💚

I completed this blanket but no matter how I scanned the magazines J couldn’t find the butterfly pattern
Oh Jayne, that’s annoying! If you like, please do send me an email at eleonoratully@btinternet.com and I’ll reply with the pattern. It will be here as part of the CAL too of course… 🥰🦋🦋🦋
Thank you for such a lovely happy update, and Kioni oh my days, what a cutie! I think he will have many more exciting adventures with you!
