Meet Kioni the Koala!

Meet Kioni the Koala… 😍

Fully inspired from my recent trip to Australia when I was invited to the Crochet Guild Australia convention, I’m so very happy with my little koala! 🇦🇺🐨🧶

The pattern is now available from me in the usual places here:

We absolutely adored visiting the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and Australia Zoo during our trip to Australia, and seeing Koala’s up close was incredible…

We learned so much about them and it was such a joy to see the koalas. I instantly knew that I wanted to crochet my very own little koala! 🐨

I’m not usually an amigurumi designer but I’ve absolutely loved creating this little koala character and thinking about the way these simple stitches can be increased and decreased to create the koala shape! 🐨

And then seeing my little koala come to life has been wonderful! 🐨

I used 100% Australian Merino Wool which I purchased out in Australia and it’s really beautiful to crochet with and provides the perfect amount of fuzz for my little koala! 🐨

I’m also very happy with my adorable stitch marker which I purchased at the convention in Australia- it’s made by Jo at Jojoz Art Studio out in Australia and I absolutely love it! It’s a work of art in itself!

Stitch markers are essential when crocheting amigurumi style and it’s so cute to have a koala one!

My little koala is already well travelled… I created most of the design whilst in Greece a couple of weeks ago and Kioni will be accompanying me to Northern Ireland this weekend for the Spinning Yarns Festival too!

When my koala design was finished whilst on holiday in beautiful Greece, I took photos in the picturesque village of Frikes on the island of Ithaca… a neighbouring village is called Kioni… and the perfect name for my Koala emerged!🐨

Here’s some coastal photos from beautiful Greece! 🙌😍☀️

I hope you love Kioni as much as I do!

Happy Crocheting Everyone! 😊💙
