Fringed Scarf Design for Simply Crochet…

I have a new design to share with you all which is in Issue 105 of ‘Simply Crochet’ magazine, out today in the UK!

You can order a copy here: www.buysubscriptions.com/back-issues/simply-crochet

There are lots of fabulous designs in this issue… it’s a good one! 🙂

And it’s always nice to get a mention in the contributors section… 🙂

My design is a simple fringed scarf and with this design it’s all about the yarn! By choosing a beautiful variegated yarn together with a complementary solid colour for the tassels, it’s the colours that do the talking!

The scarf is a perfect quick and simple crochet make. Maybe you’ll have time to make one in time for Christmas!

I love that I was asked to crochet two different colourways for the magazine…

And here’s my daughter wearing the blue colourway…

I originally designed this back in February and here I am back then with my initial prototype…

This was right at the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic. We’d all heard of Covid-19 at this point and it was already around but none of us quite knew how it would impact on and change our lives over the course of the year!

And what a year it’s been… looking back at these photos gives me a slight sense of nostalgia… like all of us, I could never have known what the rest of 2020 would bring…

I’ve had to wait before sharing these photos because of course magazine designs must be kept top secret until publishing day!

It was a windy day along the south east coast and I remember it being particularly brisk and refreshing… a true ‘blow the cobwebs away’ kind of day!

This version was crocheted using a thicker yarn by Opal…

I hope you like the scarf…

…and I’d like to take this opportunity to wish each and every one of you a peaceful Christmas time… it will of course be a different kind of festive season for many.

Take care, stay healthy and Happy Crocheting! 🙂 🙂

  1. Lovely, lovely scarf. Thank you Eleanora for helping us through this horrid year with your beautiful designs, especially the beach combing blanket which was so joyous to do through the spring months. It still makes me smile and lift my spirits every time I look at it. Beautiful and fun to do. Your videos are the creme de la creme though, couldn’t wait for you to bring me the lovely sounds and sights of the sea near your home. Stunning, so thank you for taking the time and trouble to make those along with your help video’s which are the best on the web. So many people cover their hands without realising it and you can’t see how they are doing the stitches…..if I had one suggestion for improvement, I would gladly give it, but I haven’t!!! Merry Christmas to you and your friends and family. A huge thank you from me…now off to get that scarf wool, winter is going to be chilly. Very warm crocheting wishes.

  7. Hi Eleonora. I have my copy of Simply Crochet and liked your scarf, very pretty. As you say it is a very simple design and should be quick to make but it is effective in the yarn choice. I look forward to your new blanket in 2021. Stay safe and keep well. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family which of course includes Salty xx

  8. Hi Eleonora. I have looked for the yarn for your new scarf, in a number of websites, i.e. Knitting Network, Wool Warehouse, Lovecrafts and Deramores etc, although they have the Stylecraft Batik DK (but not in copper on any of these sites, only in Krypton) nobody seems to have Styecraft Classique Cotton in 4ply, only DK. Can you tell me where to get it in 4ply?

      1. Hi Eleonora. Thanks very much for all your help. I had searched for a while and couldn’t find it. If I found one of the yarns, they didn’t have the other, which would have meant two lots of p&p from two different websites. I have been on that site and ordered both lots of yarn, the Fondant in the 4ply and Phosphorous in Batik Elements 🙂
