We welcomed a new baby into the family last Sunday when Holly, my niece, gave birth to a beautiful baby boy! It’s so very lovely to have a new baby in the family and of course I just had to crochet something… how could I not?! Sometimes a new crochet design comes about from these special moments in life… 😊💙
And a Baby Comforter it is… Holly gave permission for me to share this gorgeous photo of her beautiful baby boy together with his new octopus friend! Isn’t he just adorable… it’s a melt your heart photo for sure! 🙂
Do you call these a comforter? 🙂 I’ve seen them called a ‘Blankie’, ‘Lovey’, ‘Security Blanket’ but I seem to be drawn to ‘Comforter’. Anyhow, it’s an Octopus design which I’m really happy with, especially as there are the added twisty tentacles to give it that extra texture! Just perfect for a baby…
And here are my two Octopus samples photographed together with my Marilla the Mermaid design! I couldn’t resist, just before I gave one to Baby Harrison! 😊💙

As always, a photo shoot on the beach beckoned and I made it down early in the morning for high tide. We’re very tide dependant where we live so I knew I had to get down to the beach early on this particular day otherwise the sea would be too far out…
It’s a wonderful time to be on the beach early in the morning… no one else around and the light is so very beautiful. I got carried away with photos… enjoy!
The driftwood sticks were very handy! 🙂
I hope you enjoy making one for a baby somewhere in the world… they don’t use up much yarn and it’s so much fun to mix and match with colours!
As you can see, my two look quite different! It’s amazing how each Octopus can be given such individual personalities depending on the placement of the eyes and the different yarns used…

About to find some wool, there’s a newish baby (three months) I have been wondering what to do for. However my fave photo was of the wet stones on your beach. Just love them and if I ever get the chance I will come to see them.
