A crochet filled year!

As 2024 comes to a close, here’s a little round-up of my 2024 ‘Coastal Crochet’ adventures and also a look forward to the new year and exciting plans for 2025!

But first I want to wish each and every one of you a Happy New Year and say a huge thank you for all your ongoing support and all the wonderful connections we have made through crochet this year. I hope 2025 will be a year of good health, filled with creativity for us all.

This was sunrise this morning as I drove to the day job on this New Years Eve… the last sunrise of 2024!

For all of you in Australia, New Zealand and other places around the world that have already welcomed in 2025, Happy New Year to you!

We have stormy weather conditions forecast for parts of the UK later- stay safe everyone. This was yesterday’s sky over the sea which looked dramatic…

2025 will be a very exciting year as it marks the 10 year anniversary of Coastal Crochet and I want to make it really special with plenty of celebrations… 💙 It’s hard to believe I started this website nearly 10 years ago… what a wonderful crochet filled journey it’s been!

But first let’s take a little look back. 2024 saw over 16 new crochet designs from me! Did you make any of them? 😃

We had 3 new blankets:

I designed Woodland Wonders for King Cole and it was such a wonderful crochet-along project with so many people taking part! I loved seeing everyone’s progress…

Pura Vida which I designed for Crochet Now Magazine is a personal favourite as it’s inspired by a trip my son enjoyed to Costa Rica. This crochet-along is still ongoing with the magazine…

Festive Winter was the first festive themed blanket I’ve designed and focused on celebrating natural seasonal winter wonders with snowy trees, robins, holly and snowflakes…

I designed 3 projects (plus the Festive Winter blanket) in collaboration with The Knitting Network and using Emu Yarns. These designs come as kits including all the yarn plus the printed pattern.

The patterns are also available on their own direct from me…

I had 3 designs published in Inside Crochet Magazine which is always a highlight! I love designing for this magazine and the team behind the scenes are really lovely to work with…

There were tulips for Little Box of Crochet

A Mermaid inspired collection for a workshop at The Crochet Sanctuary

New outfits for a Taylor Swift concert my daughter and I were very fortunate to go to. A top for Bronwyn and for me a skirt…

Two new squares for Simply Crochet Magazine to celebrate Granny Square Day…

And a few other designs in the mix…

Wow! It’s so lovely to look back at all these designs.

2024 was also a wonderful year for crochet workshops and talks. I travelled far and wide. Getting out and about and meeting lots of you in person, sharing the crochet love and teaching too are definite highlights for me and something I simply love to do.

Featured here were workshops and talks I did at:

Carry on Crafting Festival

The Spinning Yarns Festival in Northern Ireland

The Crochet Sanctuary

Yarndale

Sarah Brangwyn Retreats

Made and Making

The Sussex Yarn Collection

And finally at Yak…

Yak have announced that after 10 years they are closing in January which feels very sad indeed. I’ve taught crochet there for many years and loosing an independent yarn shop in Brighton and Hove is such a shame. I’m so very grateful for the times I was able to enjoy there…

Now let’s look forward to 2025! I finished the jumper I was crocheting throughout December and wore it on Christmas Day. The pattern will be my first new design release for 2025 so watch this space…

My Coastal Calm blanket is also finished and the pattern is being tested ready for a release date soon. This will be launched with Ida’s House yarn shop in Lewes and I’m hoping that I can be there in person and meet some of you there. Here’s a sneak peak…

Plans are also afoot for other exciting events and workshops which might involve quite a bit of travel for me in 2025! I can’t wait to share more as soon as things are finalised. I’m hoping to meet lots of you out and about during my crochet adventures.

In the meantime, stay in touch and keep crocheting! My hooks are busy right now creating a new blanket design. I’ll leave you with a few favourite photos from the last year…

Sending you all lots of love and Happy Crocheting Everyone! 💙☺️

  4. Wow! Look at all those designs! I am so happy I was able to make a few of this years wonderful items, including the Rock Pool Wrap I made for a friends birthday present (she loves it) , the tulips i made for my grandsons teacher as a leaving gift (apparently she cried when she saw them, and said they were the best gift from a pupil she had ever had 🥰) the Mandala I made at the ‘made & Making’ workshop I’ve kept myself 😝 and I currently have the beautiful Pura Vida cal on my hook! which I’m keeping too , as I love Sloths 🦥 so very much so this is a special one for me too.
