I hope you love it as much as I do. Let me tell you more about the blanket… 😊

It’s a blanket celebrating a few natural seasonal winter wonders. Snowy trees, robins, holly and snowflakes all create a cosy, winter inspired blanket, just right for the approaching festive season…

The team at the Knitting Network asked me to design a Christmas Blanket and on this occasion I said yes! 😃♥️
I’ve been asked to design Christmas blankets before but have previously shied away because all that design work and crochet time for a blanket which only comes out for a short time each year wasn’t something that appealed.
But I’ve kept this design more nature inspired and general winter so although it does say ‘Christmas’ I feel it has a place far beyond the 12 days of Christmas! 😅

I’m sooooo happy with it and is a blanket which I’ll keep out all year… It’s definitely not just for Christmas although of course it could be if you wanted it to. I’m so pleased with the balance achieved…
I’ve absolutely loved crocheting this blanket. The colours are so vibrant and warming despite featuring snowy trees and snowflakes… the perfect combination of winter cool yet cosy!

And because the blanket is small yet perfectly formed, measuring approximately 90cm x 90cm, it’s pretty quick to crochet and yes, there’s still plenty of time to create one in time for this Christmas!
I’ve used eight colours of Emu Classic DK for my blanket and there are four different square designs making this a versatile blanket project with lots of possibilities…

I always try to avoid appliqués where possible so in this design the trees, snowflakes and holly are all incorporated within the design. The only appliqués are the robin head and wing…

Crochet the full blanket, mix and match the different square designs or make a couple of squares for a cushion or even bag panels! The choice is yours…
I had fun taking the photos for this design. They were taken during my visit to Yarndale last month. We stayed with our fabulous friends Liz and Rob and the beautiful fireplace and hearth in their home was a perfect backdrop…

Then the Yorkshire Dales looked stunning and provided a gorgeous backdrop too…

This is the stunning Janet’s Foss waterfall…

And these photos were taken closer to home in the historic town of Lewes and the Priory Ruins…

So there you go… my Festive Winter Blanket… thanks so much for reading… 💚♥️

This week is a big design release week for me because I also have a new design in issue 173 of Inside Crochet magazine which comes out later this week! I’ll keep you all posted…
In the meantime, Happy Crocheting Everyone! ♥️💚😊

What a lovely winter blanket!
Thank you! I’m happy you like it… ♥️🥰💚
I used to crochet in high school… now life has happened and I have no time to crochet. I bet I will start when my grandchildren arrive 🙂 I have 3 girls still in school 🙂
Busy time for you.. I’m sure you’ll get back to crochet one day! I love that it’s so portable so it’s a craft that can fit in with a busy life! 🥰🥰🥰♥️
Yes, it’s portable! I think the last thing I crocheted was a doily! And it was 12 years ago 🙂 “before kids”!
I love it. It’s so pretty and Christmassy. Might have to be next on my list. I’ve finished my cushion from the crochet sanctuary so many people have admired it. xx
Awww… that’s lovely to hear Corrine! Enjoy… 🙏♥️🎄❄️😘🥰
Ooh, it’s lovely! In terms of difficulty how does it compare to your Stashbuster Celebration blanket which I’ve made?
Thanks Kathy… if you’ve made that blanket then this is certainly very achievable! 😃😃🥰♥️💚🎄💫❄️
Stunning! The little robin won my heart ❤️ Placed my order. Love that it’s wintery and not only Christmas. Beautiful locations for showing off this fun and colourful throw.
Thank you so much Ann! ❄️🥰💫🙏🎄♥️
This is beautiful but I need to avoid wool and acrylic – can it be made in cotton/cotton mix?
Hi Susan… yes absolutely! It would be fabulous in cottons too… ❄️🎄♥️🥰💚
Absolutly stunning !. Love the colours. Although I live in Cape Town South Africa and it’s summer for us I want to make one. Love your designs.
Thank you so much! 🥰♥️🙏🎄💚❄️

I immediately purchased the Pattern .
I need to find some yarn and crochet .

What a heirloom! Anyone would treasure this absolutely gorgeous blanket. 😍
Awww…. Thank you! 🙏
I know you don’t like doing Christmas blankets But I’m super excited that you created this one. I can’t wait till my kit arrives! And yay they shipped to the United States!
That’s wonderful to hear Elaine!! 😃♥️🎄🎄🎄 I love this Christmas blanket! 😉😃
I just got my kit and I’m super excited! I am having trouble figuring out the fpquadtr2tog stitch. I’m wondering if you’re going to do a tutorial? I have done several other blankets of yours so I understand the front and back post crochet but this one is kinda confusing me
Hi Elaine…. Hope this helps… wrap the yarn over hook 4 times… go around the post of the first stitch…. Then go to complete the stitch as normal but stop at the last yarn over hook when there are 2 loops on the hook. Then wrap yarn over hook 4 times again… go around the post of the next stitch. Complete the stitch until there are 3 loops on the hook. Then yarn over and pull through 3 loops! 🥰🥰🥰
whew! thank you! that worked
Yay! 😃😃🥰
