Book Review: My Granny Square Wardrobe…

Hello and welcome to a book review of ‘My Granny Square Wardrobe’ by Sam Sabido which is published by Search Press and was released yesterday. It’s available from all good book sellers now!

I’ve been sent a complimentary copy of the book by the publisher Search Press and having followed Sam on social media for some time I knew it would be a pleasure to review her new book.

I’ve always loved seeing Sam’s colourful crochet garments so to have a collection of 15 new garment designs by Sam all in one place is wonderful…

There are gorgeous wearable garments and accessories with different colourways shown throughout the book which is really nice…

And then there are the really fun designs… I showed my 18 year old daughter these and she absolutely loved them. Just look at those dungarees and shorts!

So there really is something for everyone and the sizing is amazing too – going up to 5XL. The patterns are well written and there are charts in international symbols which I always find very helpful.

Be aware that US terminology is used but that’s made clear at the start and there’s an easy read conversion list and lots of other helpful information making these projects easy to achieve. I’d say it was very beginner friendly…

I wanted to make something from the book but I’m juggling a few of my own designs on my hooks right now and don’t have time to commit to a big project from the book.

But I absolutely adore the the star jumper so decided to make a few of the hexagon motifs which I’ll use as coasters…

Did any of you see the northern (or southern) lights on Thursday night?

The northern lights were visible again from the south east coast of England! That’s two times this year I’ve been able to witness this spectacle with my own eyes which is very special…😍

And although the camera picks up the colours more vividly, what we were able to see with the naked eye was really wonderful. Moving streaks across the sky and a beautiful red glow!

Here’s a photo from May when we saw them too… very different colours this time!

I knew I had some aurora inspired hand dyed yarn in my stash and it’s the perfect backdrop to the stars… the colours are simply gorgeous and echo what we saw. These are now such a beautiful memento of our northern lights experience…

I do so love them and the pattern was easy to follow. A great design for sure.

I can certainly highly recommend this book…😊💙

So there you go… I’ve never been busier as Coastal Crochet than I have been this last month! What with yarn festivals, hosting workshops and then new designs on my hooks.

I’m hoping for a breather soon when I’ll be able to sort through photos and share more with you all.

In the meantime, Happy Crocheting Everyone! 😊💙
