Woodland Wonders – Part 3

Yay… It’s here!! 😄🧡 Part 3 of our wander through the woodlands which includes the pattern for our sweet sleeping fox… I’ve been so excited to share this part with you all! 🦊

The pattern is now live on the King Cole website: https://www.kingcole.com/woodland-wonders-a-crochet-along-blanket/

There’s more about the design and lots of photos further down, but first let’s have a look at the round-up of photos so many of you have been sharing this week in the Facebook Groups and over on Instagram…😍

They are all amazing aren’t they… and I adore that some of your furry friends are taking centre stage in the photos shared! 😍

This week there are more autumn leaves to crochet and then there’s the fox square plus some gorgeous forget-me-nots. A favourite flower of mine for sure…

It means that all the squares will be completed and will be ready for joining…

When I designed this Woodland Wonders blanket for King Cole I knew that I really wanted to capture a little fox somewhere in the design… and as this little fox came to life on my hooks I was really really happy!! 🦊 🧶

Below is a rare first photo of a design. I don’t usually share these first messy photos of a design emerging from my hooks. They’re often taken late in the evening with poor lighting and they’re only meant for my personal use to record progress. But here it is… I’m sharing it with you because this is the actual moment our fox came to life! This is the very first photo of our little fox taken at 10.30pm on 24th November 2023…

Sometimes a design turns out exactly as you picture it in your head… and I was so very happy. 😀

I wanted the fox to be incorporated within the square, not just as a sew on appliqué. And I’m so pleased that it’s only the head we sew on and that the body and tail are part of the actual square… even the nose is a bobble crocheted as we go. I’m really satisfied with that…😊

I know for lots of you it was the little fox that made you want to crochet-along to this blanket and of course my fox had to take centre stage in the very middle… 🙌🦊

I always use my own inspiration photos… but I don’t have many photos of elusive foxes. However, my son Rowan took this incredible close up very early one morning by the sea 5 years ago! A very young fox that was very curious…🧡

Full credit and huge thanks to Rowan for letting me share that stunning photo! 🦊

I took these photos last summer as I cycled into work and a fox was finding somewhere to sleep after a night out and about… 🥰🦊🧡

I love the fox so much that I’ve just wanted to keep on crocheting more and I’ve since incorporated our fox into a set of new designs… I’ll be sharing the patterns for these very soon!

In the meantime I really can’t wait to see so many foxes come to life – please do share your progress photos and enjoy!! Im so looking forward to seeing them…

Happy Crocheting Everyone! 😊💚🧡💚
