Autumn Fruits Blanket…

Yay! 😄 I’m so excited to be introducing a couple of new designs today.

I’ve been working behind the scenes with ‘The Knitting Network’ to create a ‘Coastal Crochet Collection’ on their website.

I’ll be sharing more about the ‘Coastal Crochet Collection’ in a separate blog post later, but in the meantime here’s my new ‘Autumn Fruits’ blanket design which deserves a blog post all on its own!

The stitches I’ve used for this blanket have all featured somewhere in previous designs of mine… this blanket really does combine and bring together a few of my very favourites to create such beautiful texture…

Oh how I see all those ‘Autumn Fruits’! 😃

Stylecraft ‘ReCreate’ is a DK weight yarn made from 100% recycled materials! As soon as I heard about this yarn I knew I wanted to crochet something with it. With us all needing to be environmentally aware and all doing our bit to recycle, reuse and be more sustainable, a recycled yarn is certainly a very welcome step in the right direction from the big yarn industries!

ReCreate is a blended yarn that is 40% wool from recycled garments, 30% acrylic, also from garments that have been recycled and 30% polyester that comes from plastic bottles that are shredded and spun. How wonderful is that?!

And the yarn really is a delight to crochet with giving such beautiful stitch definition…

Just so you know, this blanket design will be released in a different colourway using Emu acrylic yarns and with a slightly larger border very soon (thinking ahead to the festive season 😉) but in the meantime, whilst autumn is still in full swing here in the northern hemisphere, this blanket using Stylecraft’s amazing new ReCreate yarn is simply a joy to make. My husband has told me that this might just be his favourite blanket of mine! 😄

The yarn is currently only available in 8 shades. Beautiful muted colours, perfectly autumnal, and I decided to use every colour in the range for my blanket design…

It’s a blanket which I like to call mindful crochet. It’s based on a 14 row repeat and once you’re away and familiar with those rows, it’s the kind of repetitive crochet you don’t have to concentrate too much on. It’s the colour changes that keep you on your toes. I absolutely loved designing and making it… 🙂

These photos were all taken a few weeks ago in September at the ‘Southover Grange Gardens’ in Lewes, East Sussex. It’s a beautiful setting and really delightful gardens to walk through. It provided such a lovely backdrop for my blanket with nature’s early autumnal colours starting to show… I got carried away with so many gorgeous photo opportunities!

And of course Salty came too! 😃

It’s a design in which the changing colours used really do bring it to life!
