Beachcombing Blanket – Week 7

img_6390

Welcome to Week 7 of my โ€˜Beachcombing Blanketโ€™ crochet along. Oh how wonderful it has been to see so many of your squares come together! ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s finally starting to look like a blanket… ๐Ÿ’™

And I’m really excited about the video I managed to record this week… it’s a little longer than my previous ones because I take you around the chalk cliff headland and there are some wonderful beachcombing discoveries to show youโ€ฆ enjoy!

You’ll see in the video that I saw the most beautiful sea anemone in one of the rock pools. I’ve since discovered that it’s called a ‘Beadlet anemone’ and you can read more about it here… WildlifeTrusts.org

The round-up of photos shared this week was always going to be one of my favourite weeks! Seeing all these beautiful squares come together is a joy… ๐Ÿ™‚ I really struggled narrowing down the photos for the round-up – there are just so many fabulous photos being shared over on Instagram and in the Facebook Group

For those of you who have purchased the PDF pattern on Ravelry it has now been updated to include Week 7 in both UK and US termsโ€ฆ

Ravelry Pattern for Beachcombing Blanket

And before we move onto this weeks pattern, here are some beautiful photos I’d like to share from an evening cliff top walk earlier this week. The sea was incredibly calm and the setting sun provided such a beautiful light. With the seagulls flying along the cliff top too, it really gave some lovely photo opportunities! ๐Ÿ™‚

So let’s move onto to this weeks instalment… ๐Ÿ˜Š We will crochet the second side panel and then the starting rows of both the top and bottom panels. These rows will form the foundation for the next few weeks as we will continue to work on the top and bottom panels.

Don’t worry if the edges to your side panels aren’t completely straight… as we build up the blanket over the coming weeks all these beautiful stitches will ease together… ๐Ÿ™‚

The full written pattern with lots of photos and links to YouTube tutorials is below in UK crochet terms. At the very end of this blog post Iโ€™ve provided the pattern in US terms too.

  1. Thatยดs really a beautiful place, thank you for taking us along!

  2. I never have seen the shell stitich in the correct context. They look so beautiful and different when you compare it to the inspiration they name came from. This throw is just stunning and I see very challenging.

  3. Thank you for your videos they really are an inspiration….loved the anemone truly beautiful!

  4. Thanks you once again for sharing your beautiful corner of the world with us. I love your thoughtful, respectful commentary about the wonderful things you notice and share with us as you and Salty stroll along the coast. This is the best CAL along I’ve ever joined, and I’ve made many of the CALs over the last ten years. ๐Ÿ™‚
