A Crocheted Daisy Bouquet…

img_6656The latest issue of Simply Crochet magazine is out now (Issue 97), and amongst the many lovely crochet patterns in there, is my latest ‘Daisy Bouquet’ design…

I’ve designed and crocheted various types of flowers over the years including daffodils, bluebells, roses, freesias, tulips and even red hot pokers!

But surprisingly not daisies! Until now… so I’m especially happy with this bouquet. 🙂

I had daisies (real ones) in my wedding bouquet 20 years ago. I wouldn’t change anything about our wedding day except just maybe I would have crocheted these instead…

They are a true labour of love as there are over 80 individual petals to crochet! That took quite some time… 🙂 My bouquet has 7 flowers in total but of course you can make more or less. Each petal is then individually attached into the central part of the flower. Craft wire is used for the stems to give them that rigidity.

I used ‘Drops’ Safran, a 100% cotton yarn, which I really liked crocheting with. The bouquet has a little slot on the front cover of the magazine too which is lovely to see… 🙂

But when I received my copy of the magazine in the post and turned to the first page I was even more delighted to see the bouquet get its own full page spread at the start! 🙂

I never know how my designs will finally look in the magazine so it’s always exciting to receive my copy…

And these were photos I took myself before sending the bouquet off to the magazine team. This was just before the Coronavirus lockdown started so I was really relieved that they arrived safely and I had sent them off just in time. I had to package them up really well…

The magazine team are doing an amazing job at keeping the magazine going through these difficult times.

So I hope you like them and maybe some of you lovely readers will make your own daisy bouquet, either for yourself or as a gift… they are a really special gift for sure! 🙂

And finally, here are some real daisies that I took a photo of last weekend! They are in full bloom at the moment and looking particularly beautiful at this time of year…

  1. They look lovely, and I thought that when I opened my magazine, well done and well deserved. I am not sure I will be able to make a bouquet like yours, but have thought that one of my next projects would be to make a mixed bunch of your crochet flowers. Xx
