A summer of Coastal Crochet…

Hello and welcome to a little look back on a summer of coastal and crochet endeavours! The end of August is nearly upon us, which I can’t quite believe, but it’s a good opportunity for a Coastal Crochet round-up…

Let’s begin with the crochet! This summer has seen a few new designs come off my hooks…

First up are my ‘Taylor Top’ and ‘Taylor Skirt’ patterns, both of which I designed and made for my daughter and I to wear to one of Taylor Swift’s concerts at Wembley Stadium in London back in June… 🎶

We absolutely loved the concert and we loved our outfits too! Coastal Crochet was very much present… 😃

Both patterns for the top and the skirt have been written up and graded to a range of sizes and are available over in my Etsy and Ravelry.

Next up are my ‘Foxy Tales Projects’. I adore the little fox square I designed for the Woodland Wonders Blanket for King Cole and I felt there were plenty more designs which could feature our sweet little fox.

So I designed a cushion, a bag and a mandala, all with our little fox at the centre…

This pattern contains all three of these foxy projects!

I love the cushion and here you can see another colour-way made by my lovely friend and tester Liz who also used a smaller hook and thinner yarn for a smaller size…

The bag has been a staple for me this summer at various events, shows and festivals! It’s small enough for just a phone with a couple of essentials and goes across the body which is always practical… I’ve had a lot of compliments and love for this little fox bag!

And the mandala is a beautiful decoration…

For Granny Square Day 2024 I designed two new granny squares for the current issue of Simply Crochet Magazine…

The theme for this year’s Granny Square day was ‘The wonderful world of entertainment’ so I thought a musical inspired square was a good place to start…

I’ve also released the pattern for my ‘Tea in the Garden Wrap’ which was originally published in Simply Crochet Magazine back in 2021. I’ll be gradually releasing some of my past designs from the magazines.

It’s a beautiful delicate floral wrap or shawl which is perfect for gatherings. Simply drape it over your shoulders whilst enjoying a drink in the garden to add a little glamour as well as a little soft comfort…

There are many new projects on my hooks at the moment too. Here are some taster photos of the yarns I’m using…

I’ll be sharing these different projects very soon!

As for the coastal, well despite a summer of mixed weather we’ve enjoyed where we live with a few sea dips. And then we enjoyed a break in beautiful North Cornwall…

Here are a few coastal photos I’ve taken from our summer for a moment of calm and inspiration… 💙🌊

The Carry on Crafting Festival was definitely a big summer highlight back in July! That deserves a blog post all of its own but for now here are some photos…

In other news, September will be a busy one as I’m off to the Spinning Yarns Festival in Northern Ireland on Saturday 7th September.

And I’ll be at Yarndale on Sunday 29th September.

More on that soon… for now, Happy Crocheting Everyone… 🥰🥰💙

  1. One of my greatest joys is catching glimpses the fox on my morning walks here in Alabama, USA. You can be sure I will be adding your trio of fox designs to my Coastal Crochet collection. Thank you, Eleonora!

  2. Thank you, Eleonora, for your latest newsletter. So many lovely project. I don’t get out as much now so the news and photographs are so much appreciated. Sending best wishes to you and the family.

  3. There is so much lovely work in this post. How exciting to have Yarndale to look forward to. I went in 2016 when we had a five week trip to UK and I planned the whole itinerary to fit around that weekend. It was fantastic.
