Pebble Pebble Cushion…

Autumn is on the way… do you feel it too? (Or maybe spring for friends in the Southern Hemisphere!) After a warm dry summer here on the south coast of England, there’s a definite nip in the air and I’m feeling the autumn vibes! It’s a season I really love once we’re in the swing of it but it does take a little adjusting to and I’m always a little sad to say goodbye to summer…

To help ease the transition to getting back to my day job, the schools returning, and family life changing once more, it was lovely to receive the latest issue of Simply Crochet magazine and see my ‘Pebble Pebble’ cushion design on the front cover!

Subscribers (which includes me) have received their copies late this month due to some distribution problems and a mechanical error at the mailing house, but it was worth the wait! 🙂 There are some fabulous designs in this issue (Issue 101) and as always I just love how the team have styled my design… they never disappoint and my cushion looks just perfect there… 🙂

For those of you that crocheted my Changing Tides Blanket you’ll recognise those double treble clusters! 🙂 That pebble lace stitch pattern to give these bobbles which are oozing squishy texture. They’re time consuming, yes, but oh so worth it!

And here’s the cushion next to my Beachcombing Blanket… 🙂

The yarn I used is Lily ‘Sugar n Cream’, an Aran weight 100% cotton yarn which I’ve used for cushions in the past. It’s lovely to work with and gives such a great stitch definition and texture. The beautifully muted colours of ‘Jute’ and ‘Overcast’ give such a calming and sophisticated feel… they do remind me of pebbles and sand…

I really can’t wait to get this cushion sample back… 🙂

For me, Autumn is a time for new inspirations and renewed creativity… I look to cosy crochet projects and of course it’s the season for wearing shawls! So I have a new design on my hooks…

Sarah who has an Etsy shop ‘BishieBarnabees’ sent me two gorgeous skeins of her hand dyed yarn in the most perfect autumn colours…

And here’s the shawl in progress… I’m loving it so far and the autumn colours are calling to me for sure… 💚🧡🍂🍁🍂

Happy crocheting everyone… 😊😊
