Crochet and Singing!

Well this was a random project that found itself on my hooks this week! 😊

I don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it here before (I’m focused on my crochet when I write this blog!) but I occasionally love to sing and for the last 6 years I’ve sung with some local bands… just for fun!

We only play once every 2 – 3 months so it’s not too much of a commitment and I can just about squeeze it in!! 😊 Well we have a gig approaching and at the last rehearsal I was looking at my microphone stand and thought about covering it in crochet!! I’ve used this microphone stand for quite a few years and surprisingly this really was the first time I had thought about crocheting around it!

Here’s a before photo…

And I decided that I would go for it! So, first to choose colours…

I then started crocheting round and round to make a long tube which then slipped over the stand…

Already I’m loving my new stand! I’ve never mixed my love of crochet with my love of singing so it feels great to be able to combine them for the first time!

But I felt it needed something more so I got some gold yarn with sparkles which I had left over from a previous project…

…and I started crocheting stars! I used my own pattern for the stars which is available here

And then one by one I added the stars to my stand…

Until they covered the whole stand…

I love it! We all have different aspects to our lives… some blend and mix, others stay very separate! I really have never combined my singing and my crochet and it felt great to do it! I’m not sure what the other band members will think although the drummer just happens to be my husband!! 😊😊 He’s given it a big thumbs up!

The band I currently sing with does covers of 60’s and 70’s music and I do more of the backing vocals. We don’t tend to record ourselves so there’s nothing recent to show… but here’s a link going back to 2013 of a band I used to sing with… I really wasn’t sure whether to share this or not! But I have and here it is… It’s all just for fun! We really don’t take ourselves too seriously… 😊😊
