It’s time for a new blanket crochet-along… woohoo! 😃
I’m very happy and super excited to introduce the new 2025 ‘King Cole’ blanket crochet-along which I’ve designed…
This blanket is a colourful celebration of festivals, gatherings, parties and feasts. Put on your sparkles, grab your crochet hooks and get ready for this year’s theme… this is ‘FESTIVAL FEVER’! 💃 🎪 ✨
The crochet-along will start on Friday 20th June and be released in 6 weekly instalments. June marks the 10 year anniversary of Coastal Crochet so it’s perfectly timed… this really is a celebration blanket and it would be amazing to have lots of you join in! 😃
The pattern will be free over on the King Cole website so everyone will be able to access the pattern and is very welcome to crochet along.
Worked in rows with an eclectic mix of crochet stitches, textures and bright, happy colours, this blanket is inspired by that festival feeling – it’s a true feast for the eyes! 😃
From cheerful bunting and cosy bell tents to the patterns of maracas and the rhythm of musical notes, this blanket is filled with a marvellous mix of carnival colours! 🎶🎡🪇
Just look at some of my festival inspirations…
It makes me smile each time I look at it and I had so much fun creating all these stitch patterns and textures…
I do adore a crochet-along for bringing people together from all over the world. Crochet-alongs are always such a wonderful way to build that community spirit! 💖
And to enjoy all the fun, see people’s progress, share photos, get ideas and ask any questions for help and support please do join the Facebook Groups:
There’s my Coastal Crochet group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1998235366871590/
And the King Cole Craft Along CAL group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/KingColeCAL/
Both are very friendly online spaces that really enhance the crochet-along experience! And over on Instagram you can share using the hashtags #festivalfeverblanket #kingcolecal and #coastalcrochetcal
Do tag me @CoastalCrochet too, so that I can see your photos – I always love to see them and once the crochet-along starts I’ll be doing weekly round-ups of peoples progress… yay!
The finished blanket measures approximately 95cm x 135cm (37.5in x 53in) using Big Value DK.
I’ve crochet two versions of the blanket – one using Big Value DK acrylic yarn and the other using Cottonsoft DK cotton yarn. The colours are very well matched so it’s really down to personal preference of the yarn and obviously cost too. The cotton yarn is more expensive.
King Cole stockists will be selling yarn packs. It’s a good opportunity to visit your local yarn shop… 😊
Here’s the shopping list you’ll need to get ready:
I hope you love it as much as I do… 😍We now have time before the 20th June to plan our crochet, maybe finish off any current projects and get your yarns ready to join in!
On 20th June I’ll be in Australia for the annual convention of the Crochet Guild Australia – I’ll be bringing my blanket with me which will be a lot of fun…
In the meantime… Happy Crocheting Everyone… 😊💙
