Baby Sets!

Happy New Year to you all! We’re two weeks into the year and I hope it’s been a good start to 2024 for you… what have you been crocheting or creating? 🥰

For me it’s been so far so good and my hooks have been really busy too which is always nice! 😃

There’s a general catch up from me further down this page but first I wanted to share with you a couple of baby crochet sets that I designed for King Cole last year. Somehow I never got around to sharing these with you…

They are only available as printed patterns from any King Cole Stockist. When I was in Cornwall back in November I popped into Clares Little Wool Shop in Bude and Clare has some available to order by post which is great.

Here’s the link:

Its leaflet numbers 6043 and 6044

With Clare when I popped into Clares Little Wool shop! 😀

Your own local King Cole stockist will be able to order them in for you too…

The professional photos seen here of the baby sets were beautifully photographed by John Eckart Photography https://johneckart.co.uk – aren’t they adorable! ❤️

I was commissioned to design these baby sets by King Cole with the request that one is a ‘modern set’ and the other more traditional. These are what I created… and I love them!

The modern set is bright and colourful with plenty of bobbles and lots of different stitches. The traditional set is more muted and of course had to include some traditional granny squares…

I really enjoyed crocheting them… plus by using a DK weight yarn (King Cole Cherished DK) and being baby sized they crochet up super quick which makes a change from my bigger blankets!

I only had a doll available to model my samples on before I sent them off. My dear aunt made this doll for my daughter back in 2006…

Designing the little booties was really fun…and they are super cute!

Maybe you have a baby in your life to crochet these for or maybe you crochet for charities that ask for baby items. It would be lovely if you made them! ❤️😊

There aren’t many babies in my circle right now but a dear friend has just become a grandma for the first time with her granddaughter being born on New Years Day! A perfect excuse to get crocheting and I crocheted her one of my octopus comforters…

This is always my go to pattern for any new arrivals and the free pattern is on my website here: https://coastalcrochet.com/2020/08/01/osmond-the-octopus-free-pattern/amp/

So here are a couple more updates from my little corner of the world…

I’ve been down to the beach more in the last couple of weeks than I have in the last couple of months. My mum has been in hospital and without Salty around to make us go out for our walks everyday, plus the weather being wet and windy throughout December, we haven’t been outdoors as much as I’d like. But I’m happy to say that’s changed so far in 2024!

My mum has returned home after having been in hospital for 5 weeks after major surgery. We’re all so relieved and happy that she is recovering. The hours spent by her bedside were helped enormously by having crochet in hand and I’ll always be very grateful for that!

We’ve also had some beautiful sunsets here on the south east coast to entice us out this last week…

I even found a beautiful piece of clear seaglass…

And here’s what’s new for Coastal Crochet going forward… 😃

There are new designs in the pipeline from me and I’ve just sent off a design into Inside Crochet magazine due to be published in April.

I have a blanket for another magazine being released around April time and my design for the next King Cole crochet-along is on my hooks right now, plus I’ll be designing the March Little Box of Crochet. So there’s plenty to keep our hooks busy and entertained!

Something else I really want to do over the coming months is release previous designs as patterns. The pubishling rights for many magazine commissions I’ve designed over the years have long ago returned to me but I’ve not been very good at making them available so watch this space for those.

And my workshops in various locations are up and running again.

There’s my usual beginner classes at YAK which are always popular plus I have a new workshop there for my flower shawl…https://yarnandknitting.com/product/flowershawlworkshop/

I have workshops scheduled at Made and Making plus I’ll be hosting a workshop at the Sarah Brangwyn Crochet Retreat on 24th February.

And there are still a couple of places available at an all new workshop at the fabulous yarn shop in Storrington West Sussex called The Sussex Yarn Collection

That’s it for now… thank you as ever for following along…. ❤️😊

Happy crocheting everyone! 🙂
