Picnic on the Beach Week 6

Welcome to Week 6 of our Picnic on the Beach blanket. 🙂 As always, it’s lovely to have you here… and oh what wonderful picnic weather we’ve been having here in the UK this past week!

This weeks rows are inspired by the relaxing side to a picnic… we have hearts, sun rays and soothing waves. After the food and all the fun activities, we can sit back, relax and chat to loved ones… and maybe, if you stay long enough, there could be a sea sunset to enjoy!

Here’s my introductory chat on the beach… enjoy! 🙂

And here’s the weekly round-up of just a few of your fabulous blankets being shared over on Instagram and in the Facebook Group… 🙂

I’ve included an extra grid this week of photos being shared by people either just starting out or still on Weeks 1 and 2. 😍 It’s never too late to join… and it’s definitely not a race. Enjoy crocheting along at your own pace! And do keep sharing… it’s an absolute pleasure to see all your fabulous blankets in progress and I adore the way so many of you are photographing them! 🙂

Before we get crocheting, here’s a little more about the inspiration behind this weeks rows… 🙂

We begin by crocheting little hearts… at a picnic it’s all about sharing time with people we love to be with… ❤️❤️❤️

And just like the little hearts we’re crocheting, you will have seen in my introductory video this week that we found a beautiful piece of heart shaped driftwood a few weeks ago. It really was amazing… and here it is!

And then of course there are the sea sunsets. I will never tire of them… they are always so beautiful… 🙂

A sunset would be a wonderful end to any picnic on the beach but if you can’t quite stay that late and you have to head home earlier, then you might be treated to some sun beams coming through the clouds…

We’ll be crocheting very tall crochet stitches to create these sun rays or sunbeams! I’m really excited for you to try a quintuple treble (quadruple treble in the US)… they’re not stitches you crochet very often are they?! 🙂 🙂

And we end this week with some waves, just like in week 2. For the perfect beach scene…

Little Salty will always seek out the softt spots and our blankets are just perfect! 🙂

I wish you all a wonderful weekend… its Easter! And whether you celebrate Easter or not, I hope you enjoy the days, and maybe you’ll be able to pack a little picnic! Take care… ❤️

So let’s get crocheting…

For those of you who have purchased the pattern on Ravelry it has now been updated to include Week 6:

Week 6 – Sunsets on the Beach

As the day goes by, we’re feeling relaxed and enjoying the company of our family, friends or four legged companions! Little hearts remind us of that love and sharing of time together and then, just maybe, there’ll be a sunset over the sea to enjoy at the end of the day…

All the colours are used this week.

  1. Happy Friday, Eleonora, thanks again for a glorious video. It is our 44th anniversary today so what better way to start it than by visiting the beach with you. The little hearts seemed very appropriate!! The blanket is looking wonderful and we really enjoyed seeing all the flowers and of course Salty and the beach. You are a star!

      1. Thank you so much! Having a lovely day. The weather was warmer and sunnier in 1977 though 🙂.

  2. Hi Eleonora. Thanks again for the enjoyment of joining you on the beach, listening to the music, admiring your lovely photos and watching the videos. I am looking forward to this week’s panels. From the preview pic, It looks like two more panels to match, top and bottom and then the edging. I know you have another blanket to reveal and I am wondering if it is a CAL with Simply Crochet 🙂

    1. Hi Marilyn… Thank you! And yes… you’re right about the final two weeks… one more panel each end and then the edging! Amazing how quickly it’s flown by…. the other CAL is not with Simply Crochet… hoping to be able to share more soon! 🥰💙

  3. Another beautiful video , which I will watch over and again this next week, I’m off work all week so hoping to catch up on my blanket , salty is so cute and how much she loves laying on your blankets , can I also mention your lovely top that you are wearing , it really suits you and looks so warm , happy Easter

  4. I’m loving the colours and teaching me new skills in crochet too. It’s firs5 time I’m done Tunisia crochet and loving the cake on it too plus the hearts.

  5. Thank you Eleonora for your wonderful design and inspiration. I’m dyslexic so struggle to follow patterns, this is my first time crocheting I usually knit, but saw your beautiful blanket and was inspired to try as my daughters mother in law passed away and left a lot of 4 ply yarn, I wanted to make her something with the yarn to remember her. Your videos are well presented, I’ve had no problem following you. I’ve learnt so many new stitches.
I’m struggling with the sunbeams at the moment I have 12 double crochet at the beginning of the row and 14 at the end, I can’t find where I’ve gone wrong, I have 172 stitches on the previous row.

    1. Hi Angela… so lovely to read you’re enjoying the blanket and how special that you’re making it with that yarn! I hope you have figure out the sunbeams… do look at my video tutorial for this row…. 🥰💙💙
