Coastal Coasters CAL… Day 2

Welcome to Day 2 of my β€˜Coastal Crochet Coasters CAL’! πŸ’™ It was so lovely to see all your octagon coasters pop up on my social media yesterday… so many fabulous coasters! 😍 Thank you so much to those who shared their progress… I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s octagon shaped coaster. Today we have a circle design… it’s a circular sunset! ❀️

The full pattern for all five designs in a digital download printer friendly format is available to purchase in my Ravelry and Etsy stores. Here are the links…

And here’s a round up from photos shared over on Instagram yesterday…

And these are photos shared in the Facebook Group β€˜Coastal Crochet’…

Aren’t they wonderful?!

Let’s move onto our circular sunset coaster… and with a south facing coastline, we do get some fabulous sea sunsets here, especially at this time of year. All these photos were taken during the last couple of months… there have been some good ones! 😍

I’m so happy to have created this sunset coaster inspired by all those beautiful sunsets… 😍

Do experiment with colours… in the coaster below I replaced my yarns D and F with yarn B which is the Rich Coral. πŸ™‚ It looks a little more orange in this photo because this was a late night photo… what a difference daylight makes!

For all the coasters I used: Scheepjes Cahlista (100% cotton, 50g/85m), 1 ball in each of the following colours: Yarn A Crystalline (385), Yarn B Rich Coral (410), Yarn C Vivid Blue (146), Yarn D Lemonade (403), Yarn E Cyan (397), Yarn F Snow White (106).

3.5mm hook (or hook size to suit your tension), yarn needle, scissors

Pattern Notes

This is a circular coaster. On Rounds 1 – 3, the non-working yarn is held on top of the previous round and worked over with the working yarn until required. When changing colour, join the new yarn at the final yoh of the stitch as indicated. The RS of the work is facing you at all times.

To Work:

Using Yarn C make 4ch, ss to first ch to join into a ring.

Round 1 (RS) 3ch (counts as first tr here and throughout), 5tr into the ring changing to Yarn D at end of fifth tr, 6tr into the ring crocheting around Yarn C and changing back to Yarn C at end of final tr, ss to top of first 3 ch to join. [12 sts]

Round 2 3ch, 1tr into st at base of 3 ch, 2tr in each of next 5 sts crocheting around Yarn D and changing to Yarn D at end of final tr, 2tr in each of next 6 sts changing back to Yarn C at end of final tr, ss to top of first 3 ch, fasten off Yarn D. [24 sts]

Round 3 3ch, 1tr into st at base of 3 ch, 1tr in next st, (2tr in next st, 1tr in next st) five times changing to Yarn E at end of final tr, (2tr in next st, 1tr in next st) six times changing back to Yarn C at end of final tr, ss to top of first 3 ch, fasten off Yarn E. [36 sts]

Round 4 5ch (counts as first tr and 2 ch), miss next st, (1tr in each of next 2 sts, 2ch, miss 1 st) five times, 1tr in next st joining Yarn E at end of tr, fasten off Yarn C, 1tr in next st, 2ch, miss next st, (1tr in each of next 2 sts, 2ch, miss 1 st) five times, 1tr in final st joining Yarn C at end of tr, ss to 3rd ch of first 5 ch, fasten off Yarn E. [12 x 2-ch-sps]

And that’s it! Here’s a sunset coaster crocheted by my crochet friend Lindsay using Scheepjes Catona 4ply…

Enjoy your crochet and I’ll leave you with a couple more sunsets…

Happy Crocheting Everyone… keep on sharing your makes and see you tomorrow! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚
