Boho Crochet Rainbow…

This is a colourful rainbow blog post for you! The rainbow is a symbol of hope and during the current Coronavirus pandemic homemade rainbows have been popping up all over the world in windows and on social media… 🌈 And here in the UK they have become particularly symbolic in support of health care workers.

Here’s an article about the rainbow symbol during the pandemic…

And of course crocheted versions are popping up everywhere too. So it was about time I crocheted a rainbow! I work as a nurse in my day job and although I’m not hospital based, some of my colleagues have been redeployed into hospital settings. One of my managers who also just happens to be a crochet lover came up with the lovely idea to send them all a crocheted rainbow each…❀️🌈🌈🌈

But first we needed a pattern. Of course I could have tried to design my own but my Beachcombing Blanket CAL is keeping me busy and I decided to find someone else’s pattern. I had a little look around and this one by Sharon from @mycrochetmakes caught my eye…

The free pattern can be found here…

I have lots of Scheepjes Catona 4ply cotton in my stash and lots of rainbow colours too…

And I enjoyed a lovely afternoon crocheting in the garden…we had exceptionally beautiful warm, dry and sunny days throughout April…

It’s such a fun little project and grows super fast…

And before I knew it, I had a Boho Rainbow complete with tassels!

And of course I just had to take my rainbow to the beach for some coastal photos…

It’s always nice to have a helping hand and here’s my daughter’s hand holding up the rainbow whilst I try and get that perfect photo…

It’s a pattern I can highly recommend… and I hope my rainbows bring my dear colleagues in the NHS a well deserved smile! 😊🌈🌈🌈

Before long I had crocheted some more rainbows…

And they were ready to send off… πŸ™‚

Another moment when crochet makes the world just that little bit better! πŸ₯°

Happy crocheting everyone… πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  1. I loved this design when I saw you post it on FB and quickly made one of my own. I made it in acrylic so it’s a little larger and I struggled to hang it in my window but I’ve since added structure by adding pipe cleaners to the back of it. Cotton would certainly work better for this pattern but it’s still absolutely lovely and I’ve had lots of people admire it.

    1. That’s lovely to hear Gemma! πŸ™‚ Yes, the cotton does give it structure and I used a 2.5mm hook so they’re very compact and more rigid! But nice to have it larger in acrylic… great idea about the pipe cleaners! πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

  2. Thanks for this link Eleonora. When I first saw it on your Instagram I was going to go in search of it but now you have made it much easier and added loads of lovely inspiration too! Thanks so much. Stef x
