Coronavirus has caused such worry and uncertainty all around the world in so many ways… I hope you are keeping well, wherever you are.
My regular workshops at Yak and Made and Making have had to stop and the ‘Coastal Crochet Coasters‘ workshop which I was due to host in Dorset together with Sandra of Wild Daffodil has also sadly been cancelled. New dates will be arranged but nobody yet knows when…
My weekly local crochet group has had to stop too and a couple of other exciting crochet ventures have been put on hold… it’s all really sad… but our health is the most important and we must all do what we can… ❤️
My day job as a nurse continues so there’s no self isolation for me at present but I do know that for many who are self isolating, crochet and other crafts are a wonderful way to keep busy. And keeping our online connections with each other is more important than ever! We are so lucky to have that… 🙂 ❤️ With people confined to their homes, I have read that many are learning new craft skills such as crochet – the increased learning of these crafts has to be a little silver lining! 🙂

Last year I participated in the ‘Trivento Yarn Bombing Festival‘ in Italy which was an amazing community event involving people from all around the world. Do you remember the piece I contributed? You can read all about it here… Trivento 2019 ‘Yarn Bombing Day’…
Well I was super excited earlier in the year to be asked to contribute again to this year’s festival due to take place on the 8th and 9th of August, 2020 in Trivento, Italy. And this time I was planning to combine it with our family summer holiday and go to the actual festival myself and install my own yarnbomb…
Flights and accommodation have been booked, all before Coronavirus came along…. 🙁 Of course we now have no idea if the Yarn Bombing Festival will be able to take place. It’s still over 4 months away and at the time of writing this the organisers are still hoping it will proceed – time will tell and I really hope that it does!
I’m yet to start my own yarnbomb installation. But I did discover that my crochet friends at ‘Little Box of Crochet’ are also contributing a yarnbomb…
They are asking for people to send in hearts for their installation and you can read all about it here…

Despite the uncertainty of the festival due to Coronavirus they still want hearts to be sent in…
I thought it would be really lovely to take part in the Little Box of Crochet piece as well as my own and I started to make hearts using some left over hand dyed yarns. You might recognise some of these gorgeous yarns from previous projects of mine…
It’s the perfect way to use up any scraps of yarn… 🙂

And combined with mine they all look fabulous together… ❤️💖💜

The organisers also have a community installation they are working on and have asked for butterflies to be crocheted…🦋

So a couple of projects to keep you busy! I really hope the festival will be able to go ahead and that I find myself in Italy this August but I’m fully aware that may not happen… do please keep crocheting the hearts and butterflies – I know they will be used when the time is right. 🙂
And it’s now less than 3 weeks until the start of my next Crochet Along (CAL)… the connections we make and the sharing of progress during the CAL will be more special than ever… 🙂

Very sweet patterns. I’m planning to crochet little baskets & fill with mini eggs for my elderly neighbours and residents at the sheltered housing where my Mum used to live. I thought this would let them know that though they have had to shut themselves away, we are still thinking of them. 🙂

Wow! You are amazing . Love your crochet beach scene and hearts too. I hope you get to go on your trip – you may still – everything is so up in the air right now but things change. Here’s a question – how advanced a crocheter do you need to be to do the next CAL ??
