Happy New Year and a ‘Beach Walks’ Hat…

img_5853Happy New Year! 🙂 I wish each and every one of you a healthy and creative 2020… thank you for following along in 2019 and here’s to more crochet adventures in 2020! This grid of photos is a little round up of some of my crochet projects in 2019…

And here is the last sunset of 2019 taken yesterday…

As a new years gift to you all, I’m offering my new ‘Beach Walks’ hat design as a free pattern…

The link to the PDF’s in both UK and US terminology is further down this blog post but first here’s a few updates… 🙂

I’ve been able to enjoy some crochet time over the Christmas period and there were also crochet related gifts being exchanged!

I crocheted this mermaid for my daughter who loves all things mermaid related. Crocheting this in the lead up to Christmas without her seeing it was challenging at times but I just about managed it and my daughter loved the surprise! I based it on my own pattern for ‘Mermaid Angels’ which I designed for Issue 89 of Simply Crochet Magazine…

And it was my daughter that crocheted this schnauzer for my Mum from a pattern in Issue 85 of Simply Crochet magazine (designed by Heather of Keep Calm and Crochet on UK)… didn’t she do well?!

And here it is photographed next to our own Salty schnauzer on Christmas Day!

I received these books as Christmas gifts… lots of inspiration there! 🙂

And I gave lots of my crocheted covered jam jar tealight holders to friends and family -the free pattern is here.

On Christmas Day I did have a go at knitting after at least 5 years… I was very excited when it all came flooding back! It really is like riding a bicycle – you just don’t forget! But I have too many exciting crochet projects to be keeping me busy for now…

And here’s the first – My ‘Beach Walks’ hat…

Perfect for those walks along cold beaches… or anywhere else where you might feel your head needs a chunky, cosy hat to keep warm!

I had just one ball of ‘Crazy Sexy Wool’ from Wool and the Gang in my stash and back in November it was somehow calling to me… I felt compelled to crochet something with it so I turned it into this hat…

The ‘Eucalyptus Green’ colour which I had matches the colour of our local seas on these grey winter days just perfectly…

Tall double treble (US treble) stitches are used with the super chunky yarn and a 12mm hook so it grows really fast and can easily be finished in just one evening…

I love it so much that I ended up getting another ball of yarn and crocheting another in a soft dusky pink colour…

Here’s the links to the PDF patterns available in both UK and US crochet terms…

As for my crochet plans in 2020… I will certainly be hosting another Crochet Along (CAL)! I’m currently in the designing stages and am really enjoying a new blanket journey… I look forward to sharing more with you all in the coming months. I plan to have it ready to launch in April.

I have other projects in the pipeline too… as ever, my crochet to-do-list is never ending but I do so love it… 🙂

Happy Crocheting Everyone… 🙂 🙂
