Changing Tides – Week 14

We’re on the home stretch and our blankets are nearly finished. This week we have some new stitches for our blankets which are inspired by the ripples in the water as the tides come in and out…

This is ‘Raised Ripple’ stitch! 🙂

Here’s a reminder of the abbreviations in UK Crochet Terminology. US terms are at the end of this blog post.
ch: chain, ch-sp(s): chain space(s), dc: double crochet, htr: half treble, RS: right side, RdtrF: Raised double treble Front (see below), ss: slip stitch, st(s): stitch(es), tr: treble, WS: wrong side

RdtrF: Raised double treble Front: complete a double treble st as normal but insert hook around the stem of the next st inserting hook from right to left going from the front to the back and then round to the front again.

Here’s a YouTube tutorial to help you with the last round of this week – the first two rounds are firstly a round of treble stitches followed by a round of double crochet stitches…

Round 75 (RS) Join Yarn A to any corner ch-sp, 3ch, (1tr, 2ch, 2tr) in same corner ch-sp, continue with 1tr in each st around working (2tr, 2ch, 2tr) in each corner ch-sp, ss to top of first 3 ch, turn [177 sts on each side]

Round 76 (WS) 1ch (counts as first dc), 1dc in next st (not the st at base of 1 ch), continue with 1dc in each st around working (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) in each corner ch-sp, after final corner ch-sp 1dc in final st, ss to first ch, turn [179 sts on each side]

Round 77 (RS) 3ch (counts as first 1 tr), miss next st working 1RdtrF around tr below it from Round 75, 1tr in next st, * (2tr, 2ch, 2tr) in corner ch-sp, continue with (1tr in next st, miss next st working 1RdtrF around tr below it from Round 75) to end of side, 1tr in final st, repeat from * on next three sides ending with ss to top of first 3 ch, turn [183 sts on each side]
