Changing Tides – Week 12

Welcome to Week 12… the weeks are flying by! And lots of outside sunny blanket photos to enjoy in this weeks round-ups from Instagram and the Facebook group

And get ready for our very last rounds of ‘Pebble Lace’ stitch!! Oh how you’ve loved (and not loved) these stitches! They have been such an important feature in our blankets… yes, they use so much yarn, and yes, they take so much time but they have given so much texture to our blankets! 🙂 This weeks it’s back to the grey pebbles that inspired these rounds for me in the very first place…img_6329img_6700

For those of you who have purchased the PDF pattern on Ravelry it has now been updated to include Week 12 in both UK and US terms…

Ravelry – Changing Tides Blanket

Here’s a reminder of the abbreviations in UK Crochet Terminology. US terms are at the bottom of this blog post.
ch: chain, ch-sp(s): chain space(s), dc: double crochet, dtr: double treble, dtr7tog: double treble 7 together (see below), RS: right side, ss: slip stitch, st(s): stitch(es), tr: treble, WS: wrong side

dtr7tog: double treble 7 together: Wrap yarn around hook twice, insert hook into stitch, yarn over hook and pull through (you will now have 4 loops on the hook), yarn over hook, pull through 2 loops, yarn over hook again and pull though 2 loops (you will now have 2 loops on the hook), repeat from the start 6 more times (each time you will gain an extra loop), at the end you will have 8 loops on the hook, yarn over hook and pull through all the loops on the hook.

And there’s the YouTube tutorial but I’m sure you’ve all mastered this stitch by now! 🙂

  1. 🙈😂 I am still crocheting at week 8th pebbles 🤣 and you make me look forward for the last rounds of pebbles?? 🙈😂

    Greetings from Germany
    😘😘

  2. I love the way they look, but I hate that they take sooooooo long to crochet!

  3. Hi. Just run out of silver wool (aran)…. just got two bobbles left, the corner and one complete side before the row is ended.

Before ordering another ball of silver I was wondering if I’m likely to run out of the other colours please? I’m working with stylecraft special aran in the same colours of your choice.

Hoping you could help me with advice?

    Many thanks in advance 😁

    Sam

    1. Hi Sam… oh no! That’s a shame but it’s all down to different tensions… hopefully you’ll be ok with the other colours… if I remember correctly it was only the cream and saffron colours that I used a lot of towards the end. Good luck! 😊💙💙

      1. Thank you. I may have to have a sneaky peak at the other parts to
gauge quantities of the remaining colours are used… (just so that I dont run short)

Thank goodness it’s the last of the bobbles…its such a yarn eater!!!

        Sam xx

  4. On week 7 but fast forwarded to see what yarn I will need (using my stash which is working well I clearly have too much) but could you say roughly how much of a style craft special DK ball (100g) would be used on the final round of yarn eating bobbles? Loving the pattern – when I first saw I though far to complicated for me but your instructions make it simple! So a big thank you.
