I’m sure many of you have heard of the ‘Little Box of Crochet‘ – a fabulous crochet subscription box by Amanda Bloom…
In the very early days of this blog, I wrote a blog post about these gorgeous boxes…
And last year I was privileged to be the designer for the month of June (I can’t quite believe that was a year ago already!) You can read more about that project here…
My Design for Little Box of Crochet…
I felt honoured to be asked to design another box and it was agreed that I would be the designer for April of this year. This was to be such a special box because it’s the last ‘little’ box before Amanda and her team move to sending out bigger boxes every two months from June onwards.
And my design for this little box was a seaside inspired bunting…
I adore bunting and have designed various bunting flags in the past. It just brings cheer to any place it hangs…
Using 5 x 50g balls of Rico ‘Ricorumi DK’, which is a 100% cotton yarn, I made seven bunting flags for the April ‘Little Box’……
And here are the designs… 🙂
Drawing inspiration from the white chalk cliffs with springtime flowers clinging to the edges…
Nautical stripes…
Beachcombing finds of shells or fossils, and a starfish…
And finally seaside scenes with beach huts, seagulls, and when we’re lucky, some summer sunshine too…
It’s all in there in these seven bunting flags!
Receiving my own box was so lovely. The anticipation of opening it to see how it’s all been presented by Amanda and her team brought back feelings of being like a child at Christmas!! 🙂 Isn’t the design of the box fantastic… that’s a treat in itself! 🙂
I’ve photographed the bunting in various locations over the last few months…
From grey days at the Seven Sisters in East Sussex to sunny days too!
And it came on our Canal Boat holiday…
As well as our trip to the Isle of Wight…
Although this is a subscription box, there might be a few boxes from April left over which contains the pattern and all the yarn you need to make the flags, plus a few little extras. Just email Little Box of Crochet direct if you’re interested… Contact
It will be exciting to see the new larger (but still ‘little’) boxes be sent out in June. Amanda will have much more scope for a variety of projects and of course there will be space for a lot more yarn! I may have to get thinking about what I could design to fit in a bigger box!
Happy Crocheting Everyone… 🙂
Is the anchor shawl pattern available anywhere. I enjoyed making your California coat shawl and thought I would like to try the anchor but couldn’t find it anywhere.
Hi Margery… it was a design exclusive to Little Box of Crochet… but they do seem to have some of the boxes left for sale in their Etsy shop… https://etsy.me/2Xa1IBo
Love these photos of your bunting I’m intrigued how the bunting was held up . Did you have someone holding it at each side .they did a great job .I have yet to start mine, I’m currently reading ” the seven sisters series ” not related to the seven sisters cliffs
Thank you Joan! Yes, I had some helpers… my family are used to me asking them to hold up crochet when we’re out and about!! I’m intrigued by the book you’re reading! 😊💙
That must be the best travelled bunting ever! I love seeing it in all the different locations, but my favourite would have to be those stunning white cliffs.
Ha ha… yes, it’s certainly well travelled!! And the cliffs are nearest to home…. 😄💙💙
I ordered the box after seeing your post on FB Eleanora, it came really quickly and was indeed like Christmas!! It is beautifully presented and the attention to detail is fabulous, even down to the box design as you say. I can’t wait to get started…….. once I complete this week’s changing tides .
Thank you for your gorgeous designs and their accompanying explanations… the inspiration behind the designs, as well as the tutorials, I love reading about them and seeing your photos.
Thank you so much! That’s so lovely to read… yes, the attention to detail is lovely, making each box special! Enjoy it… 😊💙💙
