Changing Tides – Week 7

IMG_1108(Edited)

It’s Week 7 of our ‘Changing Tides’ Blanket! It’s getting big now isn’t it… 🙂

For those of you who have purchased the PDF pattern on Ravelry it has now been updated to include Week 7 in both UK and US terms…

Ravelry – Changing Tides Blanket

And here’s another wonderful round-up of blankets being made and shared over on Instagram this week. Some amazing outdoor photos, super neat stitches and oh those colours! As a designer it’s the most wonderful thing to see your design come alive around the world…

This week I’ve drawn inspiration from seaglass which I love to search for at low tide amongst the pebbles and sand. Those tiny flashes of green that always make me feel like I’ve found treasure! Have a look at some blog posts I’ve published in the past…

Crocheting around Seaglass…

Searching for Sea Glass in Seaham… (and a little crochet too of course)

Drilling Holes in Sea Glass…

Yes, seaglass is pollution and is formed from glass waste which ended up in the sea, sometimes over 100 years ago. Over decades the tides and waves have smoothed the glass into little jewels that wash up on our shores. As far as I know it isn’t damaging to marine life or eco systems like the plastics that sadly end up in our oceans… 🙁

So those tiny flashes of green between the blue sea and golden sands are our rounds for this week…

  1. Yippee , Thankyou for a bit of joy to start the day . I tried searching for sea glass recently but ended up with small pebbles ,

  2. Is R44 correct because the *placement would suggest that there are 3dcs followed by the ch2? The picture clearly shows that it is 1dc followed by the ch2, skip 2…..

    1. Hi Natasha… yes Row 44 is correct… each side starts as follows after the * – it’s 1dc in next 2 sts, (2ch, miss 2 sts, 1dc in next st) to last st of side, 1dc in final st, (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) in corner ch-sp…. and as far as I can see that’s what the photo shows! 😊

      1. Apologies…. misunderstood…. I was reading that we repeated from the star each time, not just what was in the bracket! I’m doing a pattern where the pattern repeat goes from the star each time so got muddled between the two. Sorry, but thank you for your quick reply!!

  3. Howdy Eleonora……don’t know how else to contact you…..without totally broadcasting.
So here goes…….I’m watching a couple of episodes of Kevin Mcloud from Grand Designs..here in AUS. I know they are oldies…..about his little shack he has set up beside the seaside. While working on my Changing Tides at present……I’m seeing all the large pebbles and white cliffs,etc..and am wondering if this is where you live?? It looks a lot like your amazing photos…..I keep watching to see if Salty will turn up. Hehehe…… I think he mentioned Somerset….but not really sure. Curious. xxme

    1. Hi Dianne, we live in Sussex, which is about 170 miles east of Somerset. There have been a couple of ‘Grand Designs’ filmed in our local area in the past so you’re probably right!! Enjoy the views… 😊💙💙
