Changing Tides – Week 6

It’s Week 6! Hope you’ve all had a good week… 🙂

For those of you who have purchased the PDF pattern on Ravelry it has now been updated to include Week 6 in both UK and US terms…

Ravelry – Changing Tides Blanket

And here’s this weeks round-up of blankets from over on Instagram… I love them all!

It’s ‘Mental Health Awareness’ week in the UK this week and there have been lots of amazing and inspiring posts on social media about the benefits of crafts, including our beloved crochet! I myself posted the following earlier in the week…

“As part of my work as a nurse in the NHS, I hosted a crochet session for a ‘Well-being at Work’ event. It’s the third year in a row that I’ve taken part in this event and shared a little crochet joy with others… we spent a wonderful hour together and there are new crocheters in the world! There are so many benefits to crochet and creative arts that many of us have already discovered… the satisfaction of making something with our own hands can give a real sense of achievement, self-worth, a distraction, something to focus on and boost self-esteem and confidence, especially helpful for those who have depression or other mental health worries. So let’s spread that crochet joy…”

Back to our ‘Changing Tides’ Blankets and the colours I’ve used for this weeks rounds are inspired by darker seas and darker skies… days when the sea is far from clear and blue, and when walks along the beach can be so exhilarating…

Here’s a reminder of the abbreviations in UK Crochet Terminology. US terms are at the bottom of this blog post.

  1. Hi Eleanora, I’ve just recently been diagnosed with Breast cancer, I take my changing tides blanket to my doctors appointments to help me process stuff as it’s been so overwhelming. 2 hours after my lumpectomy I was sitting up in bed working on my blanket, I may still have been a little high from the drugs. ❤️ Thanks so much for sharing your pattern. It definitely helps my mental health.

    1. Dear Cass…. thank you so much for sharing this… it must be a very difficult time for you but it’s so good to hear how this blanket is helping you and giving you comfort and something else to focus on! I wish you a full recovery and lots more crocheting ahead! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

  3. Happy sweet birthday 🎂 Salty. Just wanted to let you know that I found the Simply Crochet Magazine with your beautiful pattern of the kitties for Mother’s Day Cards today while shopping for groceries. I happened to stop by the magazine section and glanced in the crochet section by accident. I am going to make the kitties for my mother’s birthday card for July. Thanks so much for such cute patterns and gorgeous photos of England. We had fish and chips today for lunch at a new place with a British Market. There was a Victory Pie Shop in remembrance of her brother killed in WWII. Also a fish and chips place called Fish and Chippers. Delicious. It has been an extraordinary day.

    1. That’s amazing to hear Connie! Thank you so much for sharing that… enjoy making the kitties – great that you stumbled across the magazine! And the fish and chips sounds fabulous… we have a good fish and chip shop a 5 minute walk from our house! 😊💙💙
