Welcome to Week 4 of the ‘Changing Tides CAL’… Well done to everyone for getting through those squishy bobbles in Week 3! They’re worth all that yarn and time aren’t they?! 🙂
For those of you who have purchased the PDF pattern on Ravelry it has now been updated to include Week 4 in both UK and US terms…
Ravelry – Changing Tides Blanket
And here’s a round up of blankets being shared over on Instagram this week – so many beautiful combinations…
This week we have much simpler stitches following all those bobbles! I’ve used the colours of the sea for my inspiration. From greys to blues… Of course we tend to think of the sea as blue and there are a whole range of blues that can be seen in the sea… but grey often features too!
And even silver…
Here’s a reminder of the abbreviations in UK Crochet Terminology. US terms are at the bottom of this blog post.
ch: chain, ch-sp(s): chain space(s), dc: double crochet, dtr: double treble, htr: half treble, RS: right side, ss: slip stitch, st(s): stitch(es), tr: treble, WS: wrong side
Rounds 35 and 36 are a repeat of Rounds 15 and 16.
Round 35 (WS) 2ch, 1htr in next 2 sts, * (1htr, 2ch, 1htr) in corner ch-sp, 1htr in next 3 sts, (3htr in ch-sp, 1htr in next st) to final ch-sp on this side, 3htr in final ch-sp, 1htr in next 3 sts, repeat from * on next three sides, after final ch-sp ss to top of first 2 ch, fasten off, turn [83 sts on each side]
And here’s the YouTube tutorial to accompany the next round if you need a reminder…
Round 36 (RS) Join Yarn B to any corner ch-sp, 3ch (counts as 1 dc and 2 ch), 1dc in same corner ch-sp, * 1dc in next 3 sts, 1dtr in dc st below from Round 34, (miss st directly behind dtr, 1dc in next 3 sts, 1dtr in dc st below from Round 34 which sits above dtr cluster) and repeat to final dtr cluster on this side, 1dc in next 3 sts, 1dtr in dc st below from Round 34, 1dc in final 3 sts, (1dc, 2ch, 1dc) in corner ch-sp, repeat from * on next three sides ending with ss to first ch, turn [20 dtr on each side]
Round 37 3ch, 1tr in each st around working (2tr, 2ch, 2tr) in each corner ch-sp, ss to top of first 3 ch, fasten off, turn [89 sts on each side]
And that’s Week 4… hope you have a good week ahead and Happy Crocheting! 🙂

Hi.
I’m really enjoying this cal! (Will not let the 7treble together stitch beat me!)
I’m not sure which yarn i need to start this part off (4) with… is it yarn f? I fastened it off amateur the end of part 3..
Hi Sam… yes it’s carrying on with yarn F… just rejoin it and carry on… so happy you’re enjoying it! Good luck… 😊❤️
