The Crochet Sanctuary Weekend…

Gosh, I can’t believe it’s been 3 weeks since my weekend away in the north east of England staying as a guest at the amazing Crochet Sanctuary Many of you may remember I hosted a workshop for them back in February which you can read about here

It was so lovely to be returning 9 months later and I am eternally grateful and thankful to Lisa from The Wee House of Crochet and Lynda-Rose from Lynda’s Craft Room for making me feel so welcome and for giving me the amazing opportunity to do what I love doing most – host crochet workshops and spread the crochet joy!

It was wonderful to be going back and I was looking forward to it so much, especially as I knew exactly what to expect this time! My car was loaded with my crochet makes and materials ready for my workshop. I was ready to make the 245 mile journey…

I left at 11.00 on the Friday but didn’t get there until 17.00 after it was dark… there’s just no avoiding heavy traffic and delays on our motorways! But it was soooo worth the journey and the hotel looks amazing in the dark…I got a wonderful welcome and it was so lovely to see familiar faces and meet new ones too… everyone is there because they love crochet! And look what every guest received as a welcome……I know, isn’t that just amazing!!! Can you imagine the reaction when a room full of crochet addicts unwrapped this present! A box full of little 10g balls of every Scheepjes Catona colour… yes all 109 of them!

We had a delicious meal and that evening we started making Christmas wreaths – I just had to go nautical didn’t I…

The next morning was a glorious one and as I went to my car to get my workshop bits and bobs, I enjoyed the autumn colours…

Quite a few guests had actually taken part in my ‘Seaside Stash Busting Blanket’ Crochet Along and how fabulous it was for me to see their blankets which they had brought along… that really was very special indeed! 😊

And of course I’d brought my own along too…What a lovely morning of crochet and chat we enjoyed…The Saturday afternoon of the Crochet Sanctuary Weekend is the guest designer slot so during lunch I got the room ready for my workshop which was all about combining crochet and driftwood.

‘A Coastal Christmas’ – four coastal inspired decorations, crocheted ‘Mistletoe Garland’ and little lights… all to wrap around pieces of driftwood which I’d brought with me!

The patterns are now available here.And here’s the room set up…It was a wonderful afternoon and I loved it… it was fantastic to see everyone choose their driftwood and decide what to crochet – the mistletoe garland was particularly popular…That evening I brought my Driftwood Decoration to the table for dinner…It’s always a sense of relief when a workshop has gone well and I really enjoyed relaxing for the rest of the evening and we crocheted a little more of our wreaths… It was just lovely to be spending time with like minded people…Inevitably there is a lot of sitting when crocheting and there was so much delicious food all weekend long… but the perfect solution is that there’s a lovely pool at the hotel! So on the Sunday morning I went for a swim – perfect to get the body moving……it really is the best place for a Crochet Sanctuary for sure!There was more crochet and chat on Sunday… there’s so much yarn provided and patterns for projects. It was Remembrance Sunday so poppies were crocheted too……before I left for the long drive home. The whole weekend really was such a wonderful experience and I hope you enjoyed sharing a little of it with me…
