Free Patterns… My One Ball ‘Fresh Breeze’ Hat and matching Chunky ‘Cosy Coastal’ Triangle Shawl…

img_5261I recently received yarn from Marriner Yarns and wrote a yarn review which you can read about here. I also agreed to make some new designs using the yarn…

My favourite yarn is the ‘Empress Chunky’ which comes in a range of amazing coastal inspired colours and I was really keen to use it for some new designs. I used the Lagoon colourway…

And the designs I’ve created are a ‘One Ball Hat’ (yes this cosy Pom Pom hat really does use just 1 x 100g ball of Empress Chunky!)…

And a matching ‘Chunky Triangle Shawl’ (which uses just 3 x 100g balls!)…img_5314

The colour changes in the Empress Chunky yarn are so gorgeous and therefore I’ve created the designs using simple stitch patterns… it’s all about the yarn in these designs! Which means they’re perfect for beginner crocheters too. The Hat and Shawl are fun, simple and cosy designs which I’m really pleased with…img_5216-1

And they’re perfectly timed too as the weather forecast has told us we have cold weather on the way this weekend…

The hat is easy to crochet in one evening… my family really liked it and I have a little queue of people wanting one! I’ve already crocheted another in the Sandcastle colourway… isn’t that just a fabulous name for this colour…

I’m offering both these designs for free and here they are…

One Ball Fresh Breeze Hat

Chunky Cosy Coastal Triangle Shawl

Enjoy! 🙂

It’s been hard to photograph the shawl in its entirety – it measures 190cm across but I just about managed it here…img_5285

It’s super cosy…img_5290img_5292

Thank you Marriners for introducing me to this fabulous yarn… 🙂

And Happy Crocheting Everyone… 😊❤️

  1. Is there a link to order the yarn please so the company recognise that your posts have lead to the purchase?
    Thank you😀

  2. Ok thanks, really enjoy your blog, especially as I am also (east) coastal and also have a T5!
Love to see your creations and patterns…. Thank you x

  3. Thank you very much, I will try both the patterns. Love your little dog, reminds me one our little one we had for 16 years.

  4. Thanks so much for the patterns!

    Loving ur blog!
    Thanks for sharing,,,,

  5. Hi Eleonora, thank you so much for the pattern. I was just about to search Ravelry to find just such a triangular scarf pattern, so it was great timing! I am making it as a scarf for my 8 year old granddaughter in 4 ply cotton with a 4mm hook. I will be sharing on Instagram and my blog, but I just wanted to check with you if it is ok to put a link to your pattern on both or would you rather I didn’t.

      1. Oh yes I’m loving making it. I had a bit of trouble working out the placement of the next st after ‘2ch’ at the beginning of decrease rows, so ideally a photo of that bit in detail might be useful – I hope I got it right!

      2. Ok, thanks for the feedback Sandra… will try and put a photo up on the blog later… it’s basically the same st you would normally crochet into… the next one among from the tch… the decrease is made when you just don’t crochet into the 2ch turning chains at the end of the next row… hope that makes sense!! Xxx

  6. Just ordered my 4 balls of Empress Lagoon shade, just love the colours and can’t wait to make the hat and shawl, thank you so much for your free patterns. F.Y.I; Sadly the Atlantic colourway is no longer available, that’s a shame as that also looked good.
