I have a lot of various pink yarns in my stash so I was always going to have to introduce them at some point! And here they are! These next four rows are based on simple ‘granny square’ stitches where 3 treble (US double crochet) stitches are crocheted into the same stitch along the row and then on the next rows in the gaps between the groups of trebles.
They remind me of crocheted ‘Granny Square’ blankets which must be stored in beach huts all around the coast. And by crocheting them in these colours, the groups of trebles also make me think of strawberry and vanilla ice-creams which we can enjoy at the seaside- Yay! 😊

So here goes… (remember I use UK terminology)
At the end of row 21 you should have joined a new colour but NOT made a turning chain. This is so we can make a slip stitch at the start of this next row (into the first stitch you would normally crochet into) to get the hook into the right position so that we can then get 60 x 3tr groups in this next row…
Row 22 1ss in next st, 3ch (counts as first st), 2tr in same st, continue with (miss 2 sts, 3tr in next st) and repeat to end missing the final st, join with a new colour at end of row, 3ch, turn (60 x 3tr groups, 180 sts)
Row 23 Miss 2 sts, 3tr in space between each 3tr group to end, miss 2 sts, 2tr in final st, join with a new colour at end of final st, DO NOT make a tch, turn (59 x 3tr groups with 1 tr at start of row and 2 tr at end, 180 sts)
Row 24 1ss in next space, 3ch, 2tr in same space, continue with 3tr in space between each 3tr group to end, including final space between the last 3tr group and the last single tr stitch, join with a new colour at end of final st, 3ch, turn (60 x 3tr groups,180 sts)
Row 25 Miss 2 sts, 3tr in space between each 3tr group to end, miss 2 sts, 2tr in final st, 3ch, turn (59 x 3tr groups with 1 tr at start of row and 2 tr at end, 180 sts)
And that’s our little tribute to the humble Granny Square done… 😊

I am doing my blanket with 200 stitches across. How do I do row 22?
If I do multiples of 3 then I need to have 2 stitches extra, ie 1 at each end. So do I do a treble crochet at the beginning and end of row 22? And then follow the same logic for the next 3 rows as well to have (66*3) + 2
Hi there… I didn’t base this pattern on a stitch multiple so I really had to be creative and think how the different stitches could fit with my chosen 180. But your 200 sts actually work better for row 22. Start with 3ch (which is your first tr) then miss 1 st, 3tr in next, then (miss 2 sts, 3tr in next st) until final 2 sts, miss 1 st, 1 tr in final st. Will work beautifully! 🥰
