The Crochet Sanctuary…

At the weekend I hosted a workshop at The Crochet Sanctuary and what a fabulous experience it was! The lovely Lisa from The Wee House of Crochet and Lynda-Rose of Lyndas Craftroom  were the organisers of the event and contacted me last year to ask if I would be willing to host a workshop. I’m never able to turn anything crochet related down so of course I said a big yes! And I’m so very glad I did… what an amazing weekend it was!

Lisa has written a blog post about it here and Julia from Julias Creative Year has also written some blog posts about it 🙂 One of the most special things about the weekend was finally meeting fellow bloggers, followers on Instagram and people who I have had an online connection with but never met in person! It was overwhelming but amazing! 🙂 🙂 Amanda Bloom from Little Box of Crochet was also there and she’d brought Jennys Blanket of Hugs that many of you may remember and have been a part of in 2016. Actually seeing Jenny’s blanket was a very emotional moment – it is truly special and beautiful in every way…

The Crochet Sanctuary is held in the North West of England which is 250 miles from where I live. My workshop was scheduled for Saturday afternoon so I left early in the morning to get there in good time…

I’d put a great deal of thought into the kind of workshop I would host and Lisa and Lynda-Rose put their trust in me and let me decide.

I felt it had to be something Coastal, something that is a little different and something that is achievable in an afternoon! So I decided on a ‘Crocheting Around Pebbles’ workshop!

It was a surprise for the participants and as they went off to lunch I set the room up so they would return with a little of the south coast to greet them…

…with some coastal bunting and (you can’t hear it)… but some seaside music too!! 🙂 🙂

The workshop was a huge success and I enjoyed every single minute of it! 🙂 🙂

IMG_3831IMG_3820IMG_3839Some people chose to follow my designs and written patterns which I’d prepared for the workshop whilst others felt inspired to go completely off-piste and came up with their own designs…

This little bit of feedback from @LittleBoxofCrochet made my day…

and @LostinKnit shared this over on Instagram…

To be in a room together with so many people who love crochet as much as you is just wonderful. What an amazing, inspiring and special afternoon of crochet… IMG_3845Here’s lovely Julia from Julias Creative Year who is also taking part in my Crochet Along and showed me her blanket progress which was lovely to see…

As it was such a long way for me to travel, Lisa and Lynda-Rose had kindly invited me to stay the night so I was able to enjoy taking part in the rest of the weekend too which involved pom pom making, crocheting socks (a first for me!) and generally having a fabulous time sharing good food, good conversation, good coffee and good crochet with lovely like minded people… IMG_3884IMG_3906IMG_3900IMG_3898So there you have it…a little write up of an amazing weekend! There were too many memories, too many lovely people and too much crochet to mention them all here but I hope I have given you all a flavour of my crochet filled weekend… 🙂 🙂

Next week I’ll write a little more about my actual workshop and the pebbles I crocheted around… 🙂 🙂

  2. It was a delight sharing this day with you and I can’t wait to finish off my pebbles. And thanks for letting me try your hat on. I’ll be making one of my own for sure

  3. I had such fun doing your workshop and loved meeting you in person! My paperweights will make me smile for years to come I’m sure. And I definitely agree with Rosina – the best kind of weekend is a crochet weekend for sure 😀

  4. No doubt everyone was super excited to meet the wonderful Eleonora from Costal Crochet! I know I would have been. 🙂 I think the best part about this is getting to meet with fellow bloggers and followers as you mentioned. I would love to do that as well someday. I just live too far away! I’m so glad it was a huge success.

  5. Ohhh possibly only the gorgeous weather in NZ makes up for me missing this, it sounds just wonderful! I’m already saving up so I can go to one in the future
