Front Cover News! Tunisian Crochet and Cross Stitch Cushion…

Yay! 😊 I can finally share my Tunisian Crochet Cushion which I designed and made for ‘Simply Crochet Magazine’ as it’s been published in the new edition of the magazine which is hitting the shops today!

And I’m super happy that it got a little slot on the front cover too!! Do you see it there? 😊 That’s definitely a little dream come true for me and my crochet – to have a design of mine on the front cover of my favourite crochet magazine!

As always, when designing for others, especially magazines, there are time constraints and deadlines but also the secrecy and not being able to share any progress. Nothing can be shared until it’s published!

So it’s always a lovely moment for me when I finally get to share what’s secretly been on my hooks! And I love the way the cushion has been styled and photographed in the magazine which is completely out of my control. The rustic chair and red wood burning stove together with the little enamel mug and kettle look just perfect!

This cushion was on my hook back in October and I loved designing and making it. The trailing flowers are worked in cross stitch. The design brief was for ‘Midnight Garden’ and the idea of trailing cross stitch flowers on a midnight blue background popped into my head!

Here’s a photo I took of the cushion on our own sofa before I sent it off to the magazine…

Tunisian Crochet Simple Stitch produces a fabric that has a grid like appearance so it’s just perfect for adding some cross stitch.

The last time I used cross stitch with crochet was when I worked this sample about a year ago…

Thank you so much as always for sharing my crochet journey with me…

Happy Crocheting Everyone…😊

  1. Congratulations! That’s a gorgeous design on your cushion. The trailing flowers stand out so well on the deep blue and the edging is so dainty. You would never guess that it is crocheted. I love it and I’ll be rushing out to buy a copy of Simply Crochet tomorrow …. my favourite mag too. Well done! xx🌸🌸

  3. Yay! That’s super exciting… You get to be a cover girl on a magazine! I love the design… And having never been tempted by Tunisian crochet before, your design might just change my mind. 😊

  4. How exciting! Congratulations. Such a good way to put the two crafts together. I had a go a Tunisian crochet once but found it difficult to keep the edges straight – must have another go.

  5. That’s really lovely. And guess what colour cotton yarn I was gifted last weekend!! I’ve never tried Tunisian crochet though. Have you done instructions or have you got a favourite “how to” on the web? Really like the border. It goes with the theme really well. Congratulations!

  6. Tunisian!! I am there! I think my magazine will arrive this week as well so I can get right on it πŸ™‚
