Crochet Round-Up…

So another month is coming to an end…Autumn is really upon us! And this is the photo collage I will be sharing on my Instagram feed tomorrow looking back over my September crochet…

IMG_2017-09-25_18-58-55September has been a good month for my crochet with my ‘Diamonds Tote Bag’ published in Simply Crochet magazine being an obvious highlight! But now that I’m starting to design for others I’m not always able to share my crochet progress as I have been so used to doing. My online presence is really important to me… of course so many people enjoy crocheting without ever sharing it online but for me it’s been such an integral part of my crochet journey…making connections with you lovely readers!

I’m still trying to strike a good balance between actually crocheting, designing, writing the patterns and then sharing online…it’s a juggling act!

Here’s some of my crochet over the last month that I’m very happy to share with you…

I finished ‘Jenny’s Mandala’ which was a beautiful project from Little Box of Crochet  It’s such a special project and I enjoyed following someone else’s pretty complex pattern!

I turned my mandala into a round cushion. I crocheted two large circles…

…sewed the Mandala onto one circle and then joined both circles together with a double crochet and picot edging.

I really like it and it will live in our campervan so will be a well travelled cushion… 🙂 🙂

I’ve also crocheted and submitted a couple of samples for the International Diploma in Crochet…

Yes, I’m still working through the Diploma although it’s been a while since I submitted anything…other crochet projects have just taken over. But that’s ok…there’s no time pressures. Both these samples are made using only treble (US double crochet) stitches. The blue had to be a sample of crochet in treble stitches to produce a flat fabric and the yellow an open or lacy fabric. Feedback for both of these was really good which is great.

I have started a child’s poncho and this will be a project submission for the Diploma. I have to choose an existing child’s garment pattern and grade it to two sizes smaller or bigger than the original pattern. I was a little daunted by this but it’s a skill I’m keen to learn as yes, I would love to design sized patterns.

So I’ve chosen this poncho which was a pattern in issue 56 of Simply Crochet magazine and I’m crocheting it two sizes larger so that my daughter will be able to wear it!

20170909_123603I let my daughter choose the colours and she said she wanted “cowgirl” colours! So these are what we chose… I’m not exactly sure what ‘cowgirl’ colours are but I could see these in some western movie! 😉 Whilst my daughter dreams of horses, one of my sons dreams of boats! So we took him to the Southampton boat show a couple of weeks ago! As always I took my crochet with me and although I didn’t actually get much done, it did provide a fantastic backdrop for some photos…
