Ta da! The Broomstick Crochet Cardigan…

P1130909

It’s finally finished! I’ve teased you all with progress photos for quite a while now so I’m really pleased that I can at last share the completed project with you. I started this project about 3 months ago and it should have been a relatively quick make. However, it kept getting side-lined as I turned my hooks to crocheting other things. If I’d only crocheted this then it would have been finished a lot sooner!

I followed the pattern:  ‘Hourglass Jacket’ by Jennifer Hansen which I found on Ravelry…

It’s a fantastic pattern and I can highly recommend it. The only change I made was to add one row of broomstick crochet at the bottom to make it a little longer. It’s called a jacket but I keep calling it a cardigan (not sure what the difference should be!?) It fits so well and is certainly something I’ll enjoy wearing.

I used Cascade Yarns ‘Ultra Pima’ which is 100% cotton. I couldn’t get hold of the yarn recommended in the patten but this one seems to have substituted well.

I got the buttons from a John Lewis haberdashery department and I love the textured metal.

I popped down to the beach yesterday evening with my husband, children and dog to take these photos. They’ve all become quite accustomed to me taking my crochet everywhere as well as taking photos (although my 14 year old son would have disowned me if he’d seen anyone he knew down there!!) This time it was my husband who had to be the photographer and he had to take A LOT of photos before I was happy with a straight horizon!

This is my final project to be submitted for the International Diploma in Crochet. I now have just a few more samples to do (including Hairpin crochet which is another technique I have not tried before) so I’m nearly there…

Thanks for looking and Happy Crocheting… 🙂
