Colours on the cliffs to inspire a blanket…

We live by a coastline fringed with chalk cliffs. They are really spectacular and at this time of year the flowers that cling to those cliffs are so beautiful…and predominately purple in colour!

They grow in the most precarious places…

I remember walking our dog at this time last year and was so amazed by the stunning array of purple flowers growing up, on and around the cliffs. But like so many spring flowers they don’t last long and I didn’t manage to photograph them. So this year I made a point of photographing them…

I found the colour combination of the creamy cliffs, green leaves and purple flowers delightful and have decided to crochet a blanket in those colours…

I have one more project to do (after I finish the broomstick crochet jacket that is going very slowly!) as part of the crochet course I’m doing. It has to be a household item. However, it will also have to be in a 3 ply or thinner yarn as that was a requirement for one of the projects that I haven’t incorporated yet. So my blanket will also take a long time as I’ve chosen a 3 ply sock yarn- it wouldn’t have been my first choice but I’m happy to go with it.

Here’s the broomstick jacket photographed earlier today…

As you can see, it’s taking shape but I still have a little way to go. As so many of you must also feel, there just isn’t enough time in the day to crochet as much as I’d like. I’m doing snippets whenever I can! We have a holiday coming up so I’m hoping to do more crochet than usual then. Fingers crossed..!

Happy Crocheting Everyone 🙂
