My Tunisian Crochet Shawl…

Well here it is at last. It’s been on my hook for a long time and I’m pleased that it’s finally finished- my Tunisian crochet shawl.

My daughter modelled it for me at the weekend. It was rather cool down on the beach despite the sunshine and she said it felt nice and warm wrapped around her neck…

Tunisian crochet produces a dense fabric and I found that it doesn’t crochet up very fast (there’s no holes in the fabric like there is in so many crocheted pieces!) although I did use a 7mm Tunisian hook. The shawl is my own design and I used Drops Paris 100% cotton which I found great value for money and seems to be a lovely soft cotton. I used Tunisian simple stitch throughout and used the two coloured tweed effect which I recently learned. I used a 5mm traditional crochet hook for the edging.

I need to complete four full size projects as part of the International Diploma in Crochet and this is one of the projects I’m going to submit. I’ve invested a lot of time in this project so I hope it meets the requirements. In any case I have a nice chunky shawl to wear and keep me warm!

I’m pleased with the end result and also glad that it’s finished -it’s definitely time for me to move on to another crochet project…

Happy Crocheting Everyone 🙂
