A new project…

Following on from my Tunisian crochet sample last week I have decided to use the technique in a new project…

…a very simple triangular shaped shawl that I can wrap around my neck when I feel the need to be extra cosy!

It’s crocheting up pretty quick so I hope to have it finished soon. I really like the tweed colour effect.

I have received various results back for my samples submitted for the International Diploma in Crochet. Most have been very good but I have been asked to resubmit one sample. It’s a sample that asks for a piece of textured crochet using a minimum of four different stitches to create a bumpy texture. My first sample below just wasn’t bumpy enough- I knew this when submitting it but I’ve really struggled with this one!

There are so many textured crochet patterns and techniques (such as popcorns)  but I haven’t been able to find any using four different stitches. My tutor has encouraged me to experiment and it’s been so useful to be pushed out of my comfort zone in this way. Just to pick up a hook and see what happens…

Well this is the new sample. I used double crochet and double trebles on the one row and then half trebles and trebles on alternate rows to create this bumpy texture. Hope it passes now although I have so appreciated being forced to try new things.

I’ve been finding recently, more than ever, that there just aren’t enough hours in the day for me to be doing all the crochet I’d like!

Happy Crocheting Everyone… 🙂
