A Different Coast… and a Crocheted Seagull!

We have recently returned from a two week holiday in The Netherlands. Being half Dutch, it is always more than just a holiday for me – it feels like a home coming! I get to spend precious time with my wonderful aunts, see friends and enjoy familiar surroundings which are all so dear to me!

We took our campervan and for the first week stayed in a brilliant campsite on a very different coastline to what we are used to. The Ijsselmeer in the Netherlands is such an interesting coastline (well it used to be a coastline before the salt water inlet was changed into a very large fresh water lake!):

As it is freshwater and rather shallow our children could wade out quite far- so different to the deep and salty sea where we live!

And this year I managed to complete a whole crochet project on holiday. Following on from last weeks post about the puffin I crocheted, as promised, I made a seagull! Here he is photographed by the Ijsselmeer…

Seamus the Seagull was a joy to make and the lucky recipient this time is my daughter who avidly watched him come together day by day.
