Glastonbury Festival Crochet!

A couple of weeks ago I told you we were off somewhere very exciting in our campervan Ruby, and I can now reveal that for the weekend of 26th -28th June, we were very lucky to be at the very famous Glastonbury Festival!! http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/

For me, crochet captures that music festival vibe perfectly. From crochet dresses to cute little tops, floaty shawls and of course endless blankets for camping.

The flower headband  is a must and this year my daughter and I wanted to have a crocheted version of this obligatory accessory. Rather than the shop bought varieties, it was the perfect little crochet project for me to enjoy…

My daughter and I outside ‘Ruby’ wearing the essential flower headbands- happily crocheted this year!

I searched high and low for the perfect pattern and in the end I found this delightful pattern for leaves from ‘Crochet Leaf’http://www.crochetleaf.com/little-leaves.html which I came across on Ravelry  http://www.ravelry.com (a favourite place of mine to look for patterns). There are lots of other gorgeous patterns and designs on the Crochet Leaf website – have a look!

I made the chains between the leaves longer and added in daisies from a pattern in issue 7 of Simply Crochet magazine http://www.simplycrochetmag.co.uk/

Here we were listening to George Ezra perform on the famous Pyramid stage!

My daughter and I wore the flower  headbands with pride and when I purchased a rather nice hat at the Glastonbury Festival, I knew exactly what to use to decorate it…

My leaves and flowers are now beautifully wrapped around my hat!

As well as listening to some amazing music (yes, being in that 100 000 crowd for Lionel Richie really was amazing!), spending many hours in the ‘Kidz Field’ with our children and soaking in the wonderful festival atmosphere, I kept an eye out for some crochet inspiration and here are some photo’s I took of crochet I spotted around the festival and in the crowds…

I absolutely loved this campervan spare wheel cover. The family who owned it said they had bought it online and had it shipped over from the USA.

I couldn’t get any closer to this as the crowd was so vast but it looked so good!
A colourful crochet hat!
Oxfam had a tent with crochet on display and selling handmade blankets.

Another lovely crocheted top I spotted in the crowd!
And another stall where I saw some crochet for sale!
You can’t beat a crocheted blanket!

So as you can see there was a lot of crochet around the Glastonbury festival and inspiration galore! A fabulous fun filled weekend was had!

Happy crocheting and till next week….
